I had a corner unit, so great lighting, Unbeatable proximity to transport, gym, food, restaurants
Cons:
Very noisy thursday through sunday and often had some weird afterhours folks from bars hanging around outside

Review for 185 8th Avenue

Pros:
The building was relatively clean for the area and pretty spacious common room with open kitchen layout. Only about 2 roaches in 2 years which for a walkup right near restaurants wasn't too bad. Landlord had exterminator come out the next day and no issues after that. Great location by ACE and 123 lines, close to restaurants and shops on 6th/5th Ave as well.
Cons:
No laundry in building, was pretty noisy facing 8th Avenue and on trash pickup days I was woken up at about 6am from the noise. Landlord was responsive but would occasionally enter apartment without permission (i.e., to remove the AC units that were provided by landlord in the summer)

So much sunlight in the apartment! feels so safe & management responds to maintenance questions so fast!!
Cons:
I honestly love everything in this building. (Maybe the fact it’s a walkup lol)

Wish I could have stayed

Pros:
I loved the location, the apartment was spacious, it had nice natural lighting, and the super always responded quickly. I also liked that there was laundry in the building.
Cons:
The bathroom had no ventilation and even though we we kept the window propped open, it still got really moist inside. The apartment had radiators for heating and a couple them were noisy (but I think that's to be expected with radiators). My main problem was that our rent was increased significantly so we had to move.

Solid Building and Super

Pros:
Units in this building are solid. Apartment layouts are good, super and owner are responsive, and the complex is generally well maintained. I love the courtyards as a way to insulate noise.
Cons:
The gate is confusing, which makes it hard to get mail or deliveries. Apartment fixtures are old, but functional. Laundry is unusually expensive.
Advice to owner:
The buzzer numbers on the outside should be a different scheme from the buzzer numbers on the inside.

Great Value, a few compromises

Pros:
Courtyard is fantastic for entry and regulating noise, generally clean, lots of space and fair price increases
Cons:
Crazy expensive laundry ($15+ / load). Heat system is old and noisy.
Advice to owner:
Decrease laundry prices (feels like we’re being nickel and dime’d). Consider replacing appliances more frequently

Really quite apartment Very nice and efficient super Lots of laundry in building.
Cons:
You have no control of the heat and it can get really warm in the winter, i always slept with my window open.
Advice to owner:
Move away from stream heat.
