Summarized from anonymous rental reviews on openigloo.
Tenants at 151 West 116 Street appreciate the building’s spacious, rent-stabilized apartments and close-knit community with good neighbors. However, many report significant issues with heat, water pressure, pest control, and noise from the busy corner location. Garbage management and cleanliness ratings vary, with some praising a responsive long-term superintendent, while others criticize unprofessional repairs and lack of owner involvement. Multiple reviews highlight landlord unresponsiveness, reliance on tenant payoffs for services, and deficient building maintenance, especially heating and structural repairs. Despite challenges, some tenants recommend the building for its affordability and unit size but urge management to improve care, communication, and infrastructure.

Confused Landlords Don’t Know Anything
Former Tenant
Pros:
The apartments are beautiful, high ceilings, large rooms and most of the apartments are rent stabilized/affordable. Its a tenants dream if you can actually get in
Cons:
The super is not on call 24 hours a day, and you have to pay him on the side to get anything done in your house. He tried to charge me $150 to move my stove. Good luck trying to get anything repaired decently. The heat is horrible and there is no water pressure. The landlords do not care about the inside of the building nor do they care about tenants. I am honestly not sure what they care about.
Advice to owner:

Unresponsive and Lazy Owners
Former Tenant
Pros:
Beautiful building, spacious rooms
Cons:
Unresponsive super, but if you slip him some money then he will move. He tried to charge me $250 to move a stove so I can redo the floor. Non existent landlord, no one to communicate with, I have been trying to get a lease with the landlord for 2 years. Good luck.
Advice to owner:
