Think Twice
Former Tenant
Pros:
The price was good for the area, size, and the relatively quick commute into the city. There was also a good group of roommates in place and the upstairs neighbors were very kind and helpful.
Cons:
The apartment was dirty and falling apart when I moved in. Despite deep scrubs and attempts at pest control I was not able to make the place seem clean/livable. The place is also poorly insulated and the heating was frustrating since it was all hooked up to one thermostat. This causes the upstairs apartment and rooms to be way too hot, while the ground floor was still way too cold. There were frequent short circuit outages due to the poor wiring. Sadly the homeowner did not maintain the property well and would do quick and cheap fixes. The next-door neighbors are also extremely unfriendly and rude.
Advice to owner:
The property owner should invest in the property and make the space livable. They could also be more clear about their own lack of involvement in the management of the property. They could also be more polite when communicating with tenants.
