Racist landlord & brother lied then chased us out
Former Tenant
Pros:
Nice space, the living room dining room combo was lovely. A true one bedroom apartment!
Cons:
The landlord's brother "doesn't" live in the basement (explicitly told us to lie to dept of buildings if we ever came by) but was down there 24/7 and referenced "his bedroom, kitchen, etc" all the time when we told we could hear him directly beneath us shooting racist slurs on the phone. After we came back from a trip he went psycho shouting the "n" word at us through our windows and talking loudly on the phone right by our bedroom about how he was going to "smoke us out". We went to the cops but they didn't do anything, and he was escalating everyday. The landlord Lisa protected him and wouldn't do anything so we had to pack up our shit and break our lease after only 4 months. They also lied about access to the backyard and the timeline for multiple construction projects they have going. Absolutely the worst people do not trust them.
Advice to owner:
Get your brother a real apartment before he has another stroke in your illegal basement.

Total Nightmare
Former Tenant
Pros:
The neighbors other than the property manager below us were great and very friendly. Garage for our car. Close to Ditmars
Cons:
“Property manager” and “brother” of the landlord lives in the basement. He yells all day and all hours of the night. He has fought with multiple neighbors and threatened us on numerous occasions. He shouts disgusting racist comments daily and constantly has different people staying with him. We’ve heard drug interactions occurring underneath our bedroom. He rarely cleaned the entrance which would be covered in leaves or snow. The thermostat for all of the apartments is located in our apartment. Therefore if we are not home when someone would like it adjusted the landlord and property manager tell us they have to go into our apartment immediately. During our short time here the boiler exploded, multiple pipes had to be replaced and we had 2 gas leaks. The landlord did absolutely nothing to address all of our complaints and acknowledged that she was well aware of her property managers character. We should have googled her prior to signing our lease.
Advice to owner:
I would take a hard look at who you have managing your property and how you are knowingly allowing people to enter a horrible situation.
