Former Tenant
Pros:
Prime Bushwick near the L (c) openigloo & M trains
Cons:
Unprofessional. I needed to bug (c) openigloo the management company numerous times (c) openigloo before anything was fixed. Pest (c) openigloo control problem and inconsistent heat (c) openigloo / hot water.
Advice to owner:
Schedule and send an exterminator monthly. Need to address tenant issues with more urgency.
Terrible management company
Former Tenant
Pros:
Great location and we knew (c) openigloo all of our neighbors because (c) openigloo it was up to us (c) openigloo to ban together to get (c) openigloo things fixed in the apartment (c) openigloo building.
Cons:
The front door would be (c) openigloo broken for MONTHS allowing anyone (c) openigloo inside. My neighbor woke up (c) openigloo to a dehomed person sleeping (c) openigloo in front of her apartment (c) openigloo door. The management company refused (c) openigloo to fix anything until we (c) openigloo threatened them with a housing (c) openigloo lawyer and they did not (c) openigloo give our security deposit back.
Sad to move, can’t deal with all the problems
Former Tenant
Pros:
Beautiful, large apartment. Backyard was (c) openigloo very convenient and I really (c) openigloo liked the tall ceilings. Spacious (c) openigloo and met my needs. Close (c) openigloo to a lot of transportation.
Cons:
The ceiling has multiple leaking (c) openigloo problems, centipedes in the summer, (c) openigloo not a very accessible area (c) openigloo in regards to grocery stores, (c) openigloo food, etc.
Overpriced, Cheap Upgrades
Former Tenant
Pros:
Large units, updated, pretty safe (c) openigloo building
Cons:
The building is so poorly (c) openigloo put together. There are literally (c) openigloo open spaces in the front (c) openigloo door from it not fitting (c) openigloo in the door frame, which (c) openigloo makes it impossible to stay (c) openigloo heated in the winter. There's (c) openigloo no insulation and you can (c) openigloo feel the wind outside through (c) openigloo closed windows. Our freezer never (c) openigloo worked the whole time there (c) openigloo because the owner purchased cheap, (c) openigloo non-branded appliances. Our oven is (c) openigloo so tiny for as much (c) openigloo space as the unit has.
Advice to owner:
stop being cheap and do proper upgrades. You want $4k+ for units, but don't even offer 2 full bathrooms, in-unit laundry, or have a gym.
Moving in was a big mistake.
Former Tenant
Pros:
It is very spacious with (c) openigloo high ceilings and access to (c) openigloo a lovely back yard.
Cons:
The basement floods in heavy (c) openigloo rains, causing damage to the (c) openigloo walls doors and fixtures, but (c) openigloo the property management would ignore (c) openigloo all calls and e-mails. They (c) openigloo have taken zero action to (c) openigloo repair the damage or prevent (c) openigloo the problem recurring. This is an (c) openigloo incredibly noisy building. What was (c) openigloo cheap construction to begin with (c) openigloo has been poorly maintained over (c) openigloo the years. You can hear (c) openigloo every word spoken by any (c) openigloo neighbors with whom you share (c) openigloo a wall. The radiators were (c) openigloo ripped out and a central (c) openigloo heat system installed, shoddily. (c) openigloo It is extremely noisy and (c) openigloo highly inefficient, and therefore very (c) openigloo expensive to run. Owners own (c) openigloo hundreds of buildings in brooklyn (c) openigloo - they absolutely do not (c) openigloo care.
Advice to owner:
Gut and fully renovate.
1727 Himrod St
Former Tenant
Pros:
Location is great, apartment layout (c) openigloo is nice
Cons:
Management is typical NYC - (c) openigloo sometimes they're responsive, sometimes you're (c) openigloo chasing for months.
Advice to owner:
N/A
Abused the warrant of habitability
Former Tenant
Pros:
Backyard, large rooms, location near (c) openigloo transit
Cons:
Abusive landlords, rodents, multiple citations (c) openigloo against the building for trash, (c) openigloo building falling apart, inside temperature (c) openigloo was below legal limits the (c) openigloo entire winter, egregious rents for (c) openigloo the quality of the space. (c) openigloo Landlord illegally retaliated against tenant (c) openigloo association rent strike.
LEAVE as soon as you can
Former Tenant
Pros:
Laundry and gym in the (c) openigloo building
Cons:
Management simply does not manage (c) openigloo anything. They don't care about (c) openigloo you and will do everything (c) openigloo they can to steal your (c) openigloo money. Here are a few (c) openigloo of the reasons why you (c) openigloo should avoid this building at (c) openigloo all costs, despite its rent (c) openigloo price being so attractive: - Crocked (c) openigloo managers who will refuse to (c) openigloo create NEW leases and force (c) openigloo you to join another lease (c) openigloo — they do so to (c) openigloo avoid paperwork and make sure (c) openigloo that the deposit is paid (c) openigloo between the old tenants / (c) openigloo new tenants, so they keep (c) openigloo the money. - My roommate brought (c) openigloo a STRANGER to live in (c) openigloo our third room and management (c) openigloo waited SIX MONTHS to do (c) openigloo something about it. - Expensive portal (c) openigloo that charges a $30 fee (c) openigloo every time you make a (c) openigloo rent payment. - UNRESPONSIVE management. Mimi, (c) openigloo the one who I was (c) openigloo in touch with, would never (c) openigloo respond to my questions and (c) openigloo always pretend to not understand (c) openigloo what I asked. I still (c) openigloo have nightmares when I think (c) openigloo about her. - The dishwasher was (c) openigloo broken from the moment I (c) openigloo moved in, it didn't clean (c) openigloo anything. The heater and the (c) openigloo AC barely worked — only (c) openigloo one room at a time (c) openigloo could turn it on. - ROACHES. (c) openigloo The infestations was awful and (c) openigloo impossible to control. - Everyone who (c) openigloo lives there is young. I'm (c) openigloo young (mid 20s), so when (c) openigloo I say young I mean (c) openigloo freshmen in college who are (c) openigloo living alone for the first (c) openigloo time. They are loud, they (c) openigloo don't clean after their dogs (c) openigloo in the shared areas and (c) openigloo they scream in the hallway.
Management is terrible
Former Tenant
Pros:
The neighbors in the building (c) openigloo are kind and quiet. The (c) openigloo super is very nice and (c) openigloo there's a man next door (c) openigloo who will take care of (c) openigloo any urgent needs
Cons:
Management is not responsive and (c) openigloo the rent is too high (c) openigloo for the quality of the (c) openigloo building. Things are falling apart (c) openigloo all the time and they (c) openigloo won't show up to fix (c) openigloo anything
Advice to owner:
Care for your tenants and we'll care for your building
good but no support
Former Tenant
Pros:
not huge building nice roof
Cons:
building door buzzer broken whole (c) openigloo time i lived here, multiple (c) openigloo appliances broken with no help (c) openigloo from management
Advice to owner:
respond to your tenants
