Reviews

226 13th street review
Former Tenant
Pros:
Honestly the first floor is (c) openigloo nice and welcoming. Neighbors are (c) openigloo nice. Garbage management is good.
Cons:
Super sucks. Management is very (c) openigloo unresponsive. Thankfully there are no (c) openigloo real issues with my apartment (c) openigloo or else I feel like (c) openigloo they wouldn't be taken care (c) openigloo of. Also buzzer is broken (c) openigloo and basement door doesn't always (c) openigloo close properly and have let (c) openigloo homeless people in once or (c) openigloo twice.
Advice to owner:
Fix the buzzer, get a better super, fix the basement door, be responsible, act on issues!
Worst building and management company
Former Tenant
Pros:
Location and honestly nothing else
Cons:
No heat and hot water (c) openigloo for MONTHS and did nothing (c) openigloo to address the situation despite (c) openigloo complaining and following up regularly. (c) openigloo They finally fixed it only (c) openigloo after a film crew showed (c) openigloo up to ask the manager (c) openigloo what was going on. Had (c) openigloo mice for months and homeless (c) openigloo people broke into the building (c) openigloo all the time. Elevator also (c) openigloo shut down while people were (c) openigloo in it multiple times
Advice to owner:
Stop being a slum lord
solid apartment building
Former Tenant
Pros:
great location, good apartment interior
Cons:
management slow to respond sometimes, (c) openigloo hallways dirty
Amazingly quiet central East Village Apt
Former Tenant
Pros:
Small, only a few neighbors, (c) openigloo very large apt (top fl (c) openigloo with a skylight) and a (c) openigloo great roof view. Rear facing (c) openigloo but facing a yard so (c) openigloo not dark but quiet!
Cons:
Building is old, you will (c) openigloo see pests… but it is (c) openigloo nyc… and the hallway is (c) openigloo kinda gross like old carpet (c) openigloo but ppl will be (c) openigloo surprised by how big ur (c) openigloo apt is!
Advice to owner:
Clean the hallways?
Very nice building
Former Tenant
Pros:
Great apartment, big windows and (c) openigloo high ceilings, full kitchen and (c) openigloo bathroom
Cons:
There was mice and the (c) openigloo “lobby” is not kept clean, (c) openigloo packages have been stolen and (c) openigloo the front door doesn’t properly (c) openigloo shut in the winter without (c) openigloo pushing it
Would've been nice if not for the pests
Former Tenant
Pros:
Nice layout, spacious, pretty good (c) openigloo in the winter before everything (c) openigloo starts coming out as it (c) openigloo warms up. Very quiet in (c) openigloo the basement, obviously not a (c) openigloo lot of light.
Cons:
Ant infestation, roaches, flies, trash, (c) openigloo centipedes, dead rats outside, reluctant (c) openigloo super. Couldn't use outdoor space (c) openigloo due to flies.
Advice to owner:
Patch the walls and fix infrastructure to prevent pests coming in
Fine building overall
Former Tenant
Pros:
Mostly good neighbors, great location, (c) openigloo room is away from the (c) openigloo street
Cons:
Occasional cockroach in the shared (c) openigloo hallway, pigeons outside the windows
Pretty standard pre-war walk up
Former Tenant
Pros:
Recently renovated kitchen with new (c) openigloo appliances and flooring/counter/cabinets.
Cons:
Steep stairs, top floor apartments (c) openigloo are unbearably hot in both (c) openigloo the summer and the winter. (c) openigloo Bedrooms are tiny, bathrooms are (c) openigloo tiny. Gas was shut off (c) openigloo in March due to a (c) openigloo leak. It is now September (c) openigloo and the service still has (c) openigloo not been restored. While the (c) openigloo property management did provide measly (c) openigloo 2 burner electric hot plates (c) openigloo and an air fryer to (c) openigloo every unit, we’re going on (c) openigloo 6 months of our lease (c) openigloo without cooking gas, and only (c) openigloo a 10% deduction on rent. (c) openigloo While they did work quickly (c) openigloo to get the plumbers to (c) openigloo begin repairs on the system, (c) openigloo service still has not been (c) openigloo restored.
Typical Lower East Side
Former Tenant
Pros:
Great location, lots of space, (c) openigloo super / management is very (c) openigloo responsive.
Cons:
Bugs in the hallway and (c) openigloo building (cockroaches! and they fly!), (c) openigloo homeless people hang out in (c) openigloo the stairwell, extremely noisy considering (c) openigloo proximity to traffic / being (c) openigloo above a bar, packages get (c) openigloo stolen constantly and instantly, really (c) openigloo expensive for what it is.
Advice to owner:
Get better security so packages stop getting stolen, get stop leaving windows open in the hallway to mitigate bugs, get online payment system as having to mail physical checks is really outdated
Hidden Gem on a Busy Street
Former Tenant
Pros:
- Kept clean - Kitchen was (c) openigloo renovated recently, large and spacious (c) openigloo with dishwasher - Packages feel secure (c) openigloo despite walk up building - Super (c) openigloo is very responsive
Cons:
- Street noise may be (c) openigloo a con to some, but (c) openigloo since the building is on (c) openigloo the busiest part of St (c) openigloo Marks, it's kind of what (c) openigloo you sign up for. I (c) openigloo was on the first floor, (c) openigloo street facing and it did (c) openigloo not reach the bedroom. - Not (c) openigloo enough outlets, but it's an (c) openigloo older building. - The first floor (c) openigloo specifically is above Klong, a (c) openigloo restaurant on St Marks. They (c) openigloo tend to blast music pretty (c) openigloo early in the day and (c) openigloo you will hear the bass (c) openigloo through the floor. It can (c) openigloo be slept through but it (c) openigloo is noticeable.
Advice to owner:
I adored living here. My only minor suggestion is that window screens would go a long way.
