Reviews

Overall a Great Building
Former Tenant
Pros:
Beautiful and well-maintained building. Super (c) openigloo was responsive.
Cons:
Management company was difficult to (c) openigloo get a hold of. Reoccurring (c) openigloo roach issue.
Excellent experience at 251
Former Tenant
Pros:
Live in super Juan is (c) openigloo very kind and responsive (have (c) openigloo to go through the management (c) openigloo company to reach him) Willing to (c) openigloo install things like window screens (c) openigloo for us Well-kept pre-war building Clean laundry (c) openigloo and trash area Close to many (c) openigloo train lines Lovely neighborhood
Cons:
Packages get stolen occasionally Not all (c) openigloo rooms have the best lighting (c) openigloo in the units Lots of layers (c) openigloo of paint on everything make (c) openigloo doors hard to close Rent went (c) openigloo up by a lot in (c) openigloo one year
Morningside Apartment Review
Former Tenant
Pros:
Location, Super was pretty quick (c) openigloo to fix things
Cons:
Bathroom, Steam heating (which would (c) openigloo make the paint fall off (c) openigloo the walls)
Advice to owner:
see if they can repaint bathroom, redo toilet etc
Great place to live
Former Tenant
Pros:
Good responsive management
Cons:
Noisy area. Thin walls
The building is convenient but management is poor
Former Tenant
Pros:
The super is great and (c) openigloo super helpful
Cons:
Management is really rude and (c) openigloo unhelpful when packages have been (c) openigloo stolen, washer and dryer break, (c) openigloo rent is raised significantly every (c) openigloo year
It was fine
Former Tenant
Pros:
The super is great and (c) openigloo the rooms are large.
Cons:
The heat doesn’t work well (c) openigloo so it’s freezing during the (c) openigloo winter. The management company also (c) openigloo raised rent by 20% and (c) openigloo wouldn’t negotiate.
Advice to owner:
Be more flexible on rent and fix the heat
DO NOT LIVE HERE
Former Tenant
Pros:
Nice location and good neighborhood (c) openigloo and the super is great
Cons:
Where do I start: - (c) openigloo Elevator always broken and it’s (c) openigloo scary small. If it breaks (c) openigloo you can’t get to the (c) openigloo basement or laundry room - (c) openigloo Roaches - Mice and other pests (c) openigloo in basement - City regulated (c) openigloo heat and heat sensors that (c) openigloo don’t work guarantee a bitter (c) openigloo cold winter (meaning either no (c) openigloo heat or doesn’t go above (c) openigloo 65) - Lower units don’t get (c) openigloo any sun - Packages get stolen - (c) openigloo Washers and dryers stink and (c) openigloo are always filled with dog (c) openigloo hair - the basement is (c) openigloo creepy and dirty and I (c) openigloo never feel like my laundry (c) openigloo is clean after being exposed (c) openigloo to the dirty air down (c) openigloo there - Absurdly expensive rent increases (c) openigloo - Units state they are (c) openigloo upgraded but they’re old, painted (c) openigloo over, appliances are NOT new, (c) openigloo counter top was bubbling up (c) openigloo - trash area is gross (c) openigloo and there’s a fly infestation (c) openigloo in the summer - Management (c) openigloo sucks and doesn’t listen to (c) openigloo tenant issues
Good but overpriced
Former Tenant
Pros:
Great location. Great amount of (c) openigloo space in the units. Super is (c) openigloo helpful and responsive to repairs. (c) openigloo Management will gaslight you about (c) openigloo your repairs. Free monthly extermination for (c) openigloo roaches and mice if you (c) openigloo sign up in the lobby.
Cons:
Unit hasn’t been updated or (c) openigloo renovated in years but they (c) openigloo are charging the same rent (c) openigloo as the renovated units. 25% (c) openigloo increase in rent every year. (c) openigloo Other properties in their portfolio (c) openigloo are nicer and bring in (c) openigloo more money but tenants in (c) openigloo other in unrenovated buildings are (c) openigloo stuck paying for their finances. They (c) openigloo “lost” our rent checks on (c) openigloo 2 occasions and demanded we (c) openigloo send more - when I (c) openigloo sent them proof they had (c) openigloo cashed them from my bank, (c) openigloo my rent balance mysteriously was (c) openigloo back down to zero and (c) openigloo they never replied. This happened (c) openigloo to two other units in (c) openigloo the building as well. You (c) openigloo cannot send digital payments. If (c) openigloo you send a check before (c) openigloo the rent is due, they (c) openigloo will cash it either 10 (c) openigloo days before the 1st or (c) openigloo 2 days after. If your (c) openigloo check bounces you get charged (c) openigloo a fee, even if they (c) openigloo cash it too soon on (c) openigloo their end. Our hot water was (c) openigloo 170+ degrees in the shower (c) openigloo for 15 months and they (c) openigloo refused to fix or believe (c) openigloo us. When I said that (c) openigloo getting burned would impact my (c) openigloo job and income and therefore (c) openigloo their rent, the plumber came (c) openigloo by the next day and (c) openigloo fixed it. You can’t control the (c) openigloo heating in the unit. Heating (c) openigloo stays on in the winter (c) openigloo even on 50+ warmer days. (c) openigloo There is no air conditioning, (c) openigloo and the walls are concrete (c) openigloo and insulating, so summer months (c) openigloo are also very hot. The living (c) openigloo room, kitchen, bathroom, hallway, and (c) openigloo one bedroom gets zero natural (c) openigloo sunlight. They have windows but (c) openigloo they are all blocked by (c) openigloo brick walls. The appliances are from (c) openigloo 1980 and are not updated. The (c) openigloo most expensive units are on (c) openigloo the 7th floor, but the (c) openigloo elevator breaks down about every (c) openigloo other month, causing them to (c) openigloo have to walk 14 flights (c) openigloo of stairs. Laundry in the basement (c) openigloo is only accessible by elevator. (c) openigloo Laundry costs $2.25 a wash (c) openigloo and $2.50 a dry per (c) openigloo machine. Lots of roaches and (c) openigloo rats in the trash room (c) openigloo and laundry area. Basement where the (c) openigloo laundry is located has homeless (c) openigloo people squatting and once had (c) openigloo an underground brothel running in (c) openigloo the “supply room” next door. We (c) openigloo were being asked to pay (c) openigloo $5,000/mo for an unrenovated and (c) openigloo unrepaired unit simply because some (c) openigloo rich, young family was willing (c) openigloo to pay that much for (c) openigloo the renovated unit above us. You (c) openigloo have to buy your own (c) openigloo overhead lightbulbs for the unit?
Advice to owner:
Be realistic with your rent offers. Believe your tenants before they threaten a lawsuit.
Misleading Ass Realty Company
Former Tenant
Pros:
Great Neighbors, Great apartment spaces
Cons:
Realty company is demeaning, misleading, (c) openigloo unresponsive and downright offensive
Advice to owner:
Hire a new realty company who has a modicum of respect for its renters
Good … except cockroaches and train
Former Tenant
Pros:
Great space, big windows, the (c) openigloo super is very responsive and (c) openigloo helpful, and pet friendly!
Cons:
Tons of cockroaches no matter (c) openigloo what you do, subway goes (c) openigloo by above ground right outside (c) openigloo window.
Advice to owner:
Deal with the cockroaches.
