Reviews

Just because the sign in front says "luxury" doesn't make it true
Former Tenant
Pros:
Initially this building checked all (c) openigloo the boxes: gorgeous rooftop, decent-sized (c) openigloo apartment with a good layout, (c) openigloo W/D in-unit, amenities, doorman, storage, (c) openigloo Fios, etc. The staff (c) openigloo is also great, especially Earl, (c) openigloo G, and Tamika. But unfortunately, (c) openigloo this building has been riddled (c) openigloo with problems since it opened (c) openigloo its doors.
Cons:
It has become abundantly clear (c) openigloo that the management doesn't care (c) openigloo about the safety of its (c) openigloo guests; it only cares about (c) openigloo saving money. They overestimated (c) openigloo the demand for a few (c) openigloo units with massive outdoor patios. (c) openigloo Since they can't find (c) openigloo tenants to pay the steep (c) openigloo rent for those units, it's (c) openigloo obvious they are having money (c) openigloo issues. - Insufficient security: Back door (c) openigloo isn't monitored properly. There was (c) openigloo a double-shooting this summer. A (c) openigloo non-resident tailgated behind a resident (c) openigloo and shot two residents in (c) openigloo their apartment, who thankfully survived. (c) openigloo Management's short term solution was (c) openigloo to put a guard at (c) openigloo the back door, who was (c) openigloo often seen sleeping on the (c) openigloo job. Their long term solution (c) openigloo is to give the front (c) openigloo desk attendant a button they (c) openigloo can push to lock the (c) openigloo back door. The idea (c) openigloo that such a solution provides (c) openigloo sufficient security is not only (c) openigloo delusional, but categorically false and (c) openigloo insulting to our intelligence. (c) openigloo Only someone who has never (c) openigloo stepped foot in this building (c) openigloo or doesn't care about our (c) openigloo safety would think this is (c) openigloo sufficient. In reality, the front (c) openigloo desk attendant is far too (c) openigloo busy with guests and packages (c) openigloo to monitor the back door. (c) openigloo The back door is (c) openigloo also often broken and swings (c) openigloo wide open for at least (c) openigloo 5 seconds, which gives people (c) openigloo plenty of time to tailgate (c) openigloo a resident and enter the (c) openigloo building. There have already been (c) openigloo multiple sightings of delivery people (c) openigloo sneaking in since the security (c) openigloo guard was removed. - Management doesn't (c) openigloo proactively communicate important building updates (c) openigloo to tenants, they ignore tenants' (c) openigloo messages, and ignored tenants' requests (c) openigloo for a town hall meeting (c) openigloo after the double shooting. - There (c) openigloo were also two shootings on (c) openigloo this block since the building (c) openigloo opened: one at the community (c) openigloo center and one at the (c) openigloo Sakeer bodega next door. - The (c) openigloo building has 3 elevators and (c) openigloo all 3 are never working (c) openigloo at the same time. The (c) openigloo lobby can fill up with (c) openigloo 20+ people waiting 10+ minutes (c) openigloo for an elevator during rush (c) openigloo hour. - Not maintained like a (c) openigloo luxury building: halls on each (c) openigloo floor are only vacuumed 1x/month (c) openigloo and debris is left on (c) openigloo the floor for weeks. Also, (c) openigloo there is no AC in (c) openigloo the halls on each floor. - (c) openigloo The Major Owens Community Center (c) openigloo next door has loud parties (c) openigloo that go beyond quiet hours (c) openigloo where the sound reverberates across (c) openigloo the entire interior of the (c) openigloo building keeping residents up until (c) openigloo 1:30am. Management does nothing (c) openigloo to protect the residents from (c) openigloo this, even though they manage (c) openigloo both buildings. - The units themselves (c) openigloo are made from cheap materials (c) openigloo that break - They are constantly (c) openigloo trying to get the trash (c) openigloo situation under control and multiple (c) openigloo tenants have seen roaches already - (c) openigloo Management botched the payment set-up (c) openigloo with the electric company, which (c) openigloo meant tenants didn't receive bills (c) openigloo for months. When they (c) openigloo finally set it up, tenants (c) openigloo received multiple bills due within (c) openigloo the same month. This happened (c) openigloo during the expensive months of (c) openigloo summer, which meant tenants were (c) openigloo expected to pay $600+ worth (c) openigloo of bills within one month (c) openigloo due to lack of competency (c) openigloo of management.
Advice to owner:
Fix these issues and this could actually be a nice building. Actually care about the tenants, listen to them, treat them with respect. Hire more staff for the entire building in all departments.
It’s Fine, I guess
Former Tenant
Pros:
Not the worst place I’ve (c) openigloo lived. Large units, reasonably priced. (c) openigloo Like the roof.
Cons:
My ceiling has a leak, (c) openigloo took months to resolve.
Advice to owner:
Resolve maintenance issues rather than putting up new drywall over a leak
Definitely Needs Improving
Former Tenant
Pros:
Our apartment itself is gorgeous, (c) openigloo the view from the rooftop (c) openigloo is beautiful. The front desk (c) openigloo staff (G + Tamika!) are (c) openigloo wonderful as is Earl. There (c) openigloo is a building WhatsApp and (c) openigloo people are friendly
Cons:
- The Electric Bill didn't (c) openigloo come for months, when it (c) openigloo did, the payment system didnt (c) openigloo work, when it came again (c) openigloo and worked, we had to (c) openigloo pay for months of electric (c) openigloo at once. -Our dryer (c) openigloo doesn't fully dry clothing, this (c) openigloo was looked into by maintenance (c) openigloo but never really solved - (c) openigloo Neighbors don't respect the building (c) openigloo (dog pee in the hallway, (c) openigloo over crowing on the roof (c) openigloo at the 4th of July (c) openigloo led to fights and the (c) openigloo police showed up 2x, packages (c) openigloo have been stolen from the (c) openigloo package room) -Their is no AC (c) openigloo in the main hallways on (c) openigloo each floor -The elevators have constantly (c) openigloo been in repair and take (c) openigloo forever to come
Advice to owner:
Earl is one person and can only do so much between 2 buildings. Give him a raise and hire him more staff !
