Reviews

Fine and Affordable for its Neighborhood
Former Tenant
Pros:
I liked how quiet Stanton (c) openigloo St is. The building mangers (c) openigloo are incredibly responsive and resolve (c) openigloo issues very quickly. The unit (c) openigloo was clean and freshly painted (c) openigloo when we arrived. We had (c) openigloo very few issues with our (c) openigloo experience overall.
Cons:
Some bedrooms are very small (c) openigloo with little natural little and (c) openigloo no living room which is (c) openigloo pretty typical NYC, but there (c) openigloo are better options in the (c) openigloo same price range around the (c) openigloo neighborhood. Old building with old (c) openigloo LOUD pipes. It was hard (c) openigloo to sleep when the radiators (c) openigloo turned on the first few (c) openigloo nights. The oven just did (c) openigloo not work very well and (c) openigloo the units are tinyyyyy.
Advice to owner:
Lower the price!
Well taken care of
Former Tenant
Pros:
By and large the neighbors (c) openigloo are friendly and quiet. The (c) openigloo club under the building closed! (c) openigloo Water pressure is great and (c) openigloo the building is kept clean.
Cons:
Packages occasionally stolen A new (c) openigloo bar may go in where (c) openigloo the club previously was
Location vs comfort vs $$
Former Tenant
Pros:
Location. Cute brick walls.
Cons:
Entrance smells disgustingly strong like (c) openigloo cat pee. Railing on the (c) openigloo first flight of stairs is (c) openigloo broken. Garbage is stored in (c) openigloo a closet under the stairs. (c) openigloo Gas heaters.
Advice to owner:
Speak to con-ed about getting rid of the garbage/man hole cover out front, it is a hot spot for rats
Management does not care about you in this building
Former Tenant
Pros:
Location for the building is (c) openigloo great, plenty of things to (c) openigloo do and eat and transportation
Cons:
Garbage in hallways, had a (c) openigloo mouse in my apartment, heat (c) openigloo never worked properly and to (c) openigloo many party kids in the (c) openigloo building.
great for a studio
Former Tenant
Pros:
great location, nice neighbors, pretty (c) openigloo nice appliances
Cons:
bad water pressure in the (c) openigloo shower (like none at all (c) openigloo basically lol), club next door (c) openigloo is super loud on the (c) openigloo weekends / during events, random (c) openigloo little things that were promised (c) openigloo to be fixed before move (c) openigloo in weren’t (like our cabinets (c) openigloo are missing knobs and have (c) openigloo been since we moved in), (c) openigloo had a gnat problem over (c) openigloo the summer that appeared out (c) openigloo of nowhere and would not (c) openigloo go away
Advice to owner:
a couple of updates would go a long way!!
A good starter apartment
Former Tenant
Pros:
Management is responsive Monthly pest control
Cons:
The apartment sits above a (c) openigloo club (Writing on the Wall) (c) openigloo so it gets loud Thurs-Sat Garbage (c) openigloo is kept in the lobby (c) openigloo downstairs, which can be unpleasant (c) openigloo (smell + flies), but is (c) openigloo regularly taken out
bedbug infested, small bedrooms
Former Tenant
Pros:
fixtures in unit were nice
Cons:
monthly bedbug exterminator came because (c) openigloo every unit was infested. no (c) openigloo one told us. had to (c) openigloo talk to other tenants to (c) openigloo find out their apartments were (c) openigloo infested too
Advice to owner:
get rid of the bedbugs
Bad Mice infestation
Former Tenant
Pros:
Very Updated unit
Cons:
Mice infestation and heat doesn’t (c) openigloo work well Club downstairs which is (c) openigloo so loud on weekends Dirty hallways
Advice to owner:
Get rodent issue under control
Good building! Like
Former Tenant
Pros:
Responsiveness of super
Cons:
Packages stolen often
Small but with nice amenities in LES
Former Tenant
Pros:
-AMENITIES: lived in one of (c) openigloo the recently updated units -APPLIANCES: all (c) openigloo appliances in unit (washer, dryer, (c) openigloo dishwasher and all surprisingly high-end!) -INTERIOR: (c) openigloo modern interior (crisp white walls/doors, (c) openigloo exposed brick in some rooms, (c) openigloo marble tiled shower) -PRICE: decent price (c) openigloo (at first) for new, young (c) openigloo professionals who don’t mind more (c) openigloo than one roommate situation or (c) openigloo paying for a guest bedroom -NEARBY: (c) openigloo lots of essential stores finally (c) openigloo opened just a couple blocks (c) openigloo away (Trader Joe’s, Target, CVS, (c) openigloo etc.) making the neighborhood much (c) openigloo more convenient than before -MANAGEMENT: management (c) openigloo was generally reasonable and considerate
Cons:
-LAYOUT: while they did a (c) openigloo good job with what I’m (c) openigloo sure were extensive renovations to (c) openigloo units like ours, they didn’t (c) openigloo quite nail the layout of (c) openigloo the space (small “common space” (c) openigloo even by NYC standards with (c) openigloo zero closets, awkwardly different sized (c) openigloo bedrooms, and the washer/dryer made (c) openigloo the small space very hot (c) openigloo and humid rapidly as it (c) openigloo seemed to vent straight into (c) openigloo the apt) -INTERNET: the “complimentary” building-wide (c) openigloo internet is kind of a (c) openigloo running joke in the building (c) openigloo (rather slow, sometimes unreliable, and (c) openigloo not secured using the proper (c) openigloo protocols for wifi security) -SECURITY: packages (c) openigloo stolen from mail area despite (c) openigloo security cameras (none of us (c) openigloo ever found out whether they (c) openigloo were real/fake, on/off) -LOCATION: at the (c) openigloo very end of Rivington, this (c) openigloo building is literally and I (c) openigloo mean *precisely* on the edge (c) openigloo of two distinctly contrasting environments (c) openigloo (make a left out the (c) openigloo door and you’re in massive (c) openigloo housing projects neighborhood with constant (c) openigloo crime…make a right out the (c) openigloo door and you’re in the (c) openigloo heart of LES which is (c) openigloo full of young successful professionals, (c) openigloo art galleries, restaurants, shops, bars) OTHER/MISC: -a (c) openigloo few people experiencing homelessness hang (c) openigloo around, and while they never (c) openigloo caused any major issues to (c) openigloo my knowledge, their sleeping on (c) openigloo steps is a truly sad (c) openigloo and constant reminder of larger (c) openigloo issues that come with rapidly (c) openigloo changing neighborhoods like LES -was never (c) openigloo entirely clear on this but (c) openigloo there was some weird situation (c) openigloo regarding the other units (allegedly (c) openigloo rent controlled units were not (c) openigloo updated but updated units were (c) openigloo not rent controlled?) which made (c) openigloo for an awkward disparity in (c) openigloo conversations between tenants in different (c) openigloo units
