Reviews

Overall would recommend
Former Tenant
Pros:
Kept in good condition
Cons:
Wish there was more communication (c) openigloo with management
The Rat Kingdom
Former Tenant
Pros:
Generally speaking, the other tenants (c) openigloo were kind people. With one (c) openigloo major exception, but sometimes that (c) openigloo can’t be helped. Location was (c) openigloo seriously amazing, and I was (c) openigloo on the 5th floor, so (c) openigloo the roof access was everything. (c) openigloo The apartment itself was sun-drenched (c) openigloo and spacious, although in desperate (c) openigloo need of a facelift.
Cons:
Rats. Let’s just start there. (c) openigloo I had them in my (c) openigloo ceiling and crawling around in (c) openigloo my kitchen regularly. Landlords took (c) openigloo 3 months to deal with (c) openigloo it, after telling me they (c) openigloo didn’t believe me, then threatened (c) openigloo me when I called 311. (c) openigloo Ultimately they just sent someone (c) openigloo to fill a hole in (c) openigloo the plaster wall behind my (c) openigloo kitchen cabinets (which were falling (c) openigloo off the wall), and I (c) openigloo still saw rats in/around the (c) openigloo building regularly. Garbage management was (c) openigloo TERRIBLE. Most of the time (c) openigloo there were massive piles of (c) openigloo trash inside the building and (c) openigloo it STANK in the summer. (c) openigloo So many roaches and flies. (c) openigloo Radiators barely came on and (c) openigloo spewed hot water everywhere when (c) openigloo they did. Hot water anywhere (c) openigloo else, however, was a rare (c) openigloo treat. I would’ve stayed but (c) openigloo they neglected the building and (c) openigloo my unit to a point (c) openigloo where I couldn’t sleep. Every (c) openigloo tiny noise at night woke (c) openigloo me up because I was (c) openigloo afraid it was another rat. (c) openigloo I did everything I could (c) openigloo to keep that apartment clean (c) openigloo and pest free. Never got (c) openigloo my security deposit back.
Advice to owner:
Maybe do your job ?
Terrible building management
Former Tenant
Pros:
good location. mix of different (c) openigloo neighbors while i was living (c) openigloo here, some were tenants that (c) openigloo had probably been living in (c) openigloo the building for years and (c) openigloo others were younger and recently (c) openigloo moved to new york.
Cons:
building was terribly managed and (c) openigloo units are generally pretty small. (c) openigloo front facade of building was (c) openigloo falling apart when i was (c) openigloo living here and everyone had (c) openigloo to be evacuated. inspectors came (c) openigloo in and found so many (c) openigloo other violations that delayed our (c) openigloo ability to come back into (c) openigloo the building. very bad pest (c) openigloo problems. trash room was terribly (c) openigloo managed.
Advice to owner:
take better care of the building
Quiet-ish building in a nice location
Former Tenant
Pros:
Great location, close to the (c) openigloo train, lots of businesses nearby
Cons:
Rats in building, sketchy neighbors
Apartment with nothing special
Former Tenant
Pros:
Not many, but the noise (c) openigloo level is very low inside (c) openigloo the apartment
Cons:
Tenants were dirty in the (c) openigloo staircase, obscene drawings on the (c) openigloo stair walls.
Management does not respond
Former Tenant
Pros:
Good location and it was (c) openigloo a no fee apartment
Cons:
We’ve had many issues with (c) openigloo security. Our packages were getting (c) openigloo stolen. We were locked inside (c) openigloo the building. Gas leaks during (c) openigloo the winter. No hot water (c) openigloo for a month.
Advice to owner:
Better management
Great location/"bones" - Horrible Management
Former Tenant
Pros:
Location is incredible being in (c) openigloo the EV on the cusp (c) openigloo of LES and Bowery. 12 (c) openigloo foot ceilings with tin tile (c) openigloo and crown molding. Beautiful exposed (c) openigloo brick. Heat is paid for (c) openigloo by mgmt. Trash is taken (c) openigloo out daily. Building residents are (c) openigloo quiet and respectful. Large bedrooms (c) openigloo for the EV. Beautiful large (c) openigloo 7 foot tall windows if (c) openigloo you are facing the north.
Cons:
Management responses to maintenance requests (c) openigloo are half-assed and never followed (c) openigloo through. I have spoken more (c) openigloo with other members in the (c) openigloo office versus the actual property (c) openigloo manager, Jay. Filthy apartment upon (c) openigloo move-in. I had to "fight" (c) openigloo to get it cleaned. Broken (c) openigloo fridge. Dual front-load W/D disgustingly (c) openigloo moldy upon move-in - we (c) openigloo spent lots of money to (c) openigloo attempt to fix the issue (c) openigloo to no avail. It has (c) openigloo not been fixed by them (c) openigloo after 3 months of this (c) openigloo issue being raised multiple times (c) openigloo - rendering it unusable. It (c) openigloo is now just a giant (c) openigloo piece of junk taking up (c) openigloo a lot of closet space. (c) openigloo Because heat is managed by (c) openigloo the owners - it can (c) openigloo get quite toasty on warmer (c) openigloo winter/spring days before they shut (c) openigloo it off in late April. It (c) openigloo is above an Italian restaurant (c) openigloo + a comedy club and (c) openigloo next to a bar, so (c) openigloo there can be noise from (c) openigloo them... but it isn't too (c) openigloo glaringly bad. This is more (c) openigloo prevalent in the second floor (c) openigloo units.
Decent size apartments, great neighborhood, terrible upkeep
Former Tenant
Pros:
Great area, affordable price, decent (c) openigloo size apartments kitchen and bathroom were (c) openigloo new super/ maintenance are very nice (c) openigloo and friendly (though since they're (c) openigloo responsible for multiple buildings, they're (c) openigloo always slammed and take forever (c) openigloo to get to your request)
Cons:
Street is absolutely infested with (c) openigloo rats, walking home at night (c) openigloo is an undertaking hallways and stairs (c) openigloo are almost never cleaned and (c) openigloo were filthy garbage always overflowing there was (c) openigloo often a very bad and (c) openigloo weird smell in the common (c) openigloo areas 80% of my packages were (c) openigloo stolen (go grab them as (c) openigloo soon as humanly possible). management (c) openigloo ignored the issue
Advice to owner:
clean the hallways at least twice a week. figure out a way to prevent package theft. coordinate with neighboring building to get the rat issue under control, only a mater of time before they make their way to the apartments
Would not live here until management changes
Former Tenant
Pros:
New appliances in some units
Cons:
4 units had bed bugs. (c) openigloo Pests/rodents are an issue, maintenance (c) openigloo used to be reliable but (c) openigloo are now non-existent
Beautiful apartments but awful management
Former Tenant
Pros:
Absolutely love the interior design. (c) openigloo Beautiful brick, and wooden walls (c) openigloo with barn-style doors. Huge windows (c) openigloo with lots of sunlight, and (c) openigloo clever storage spaces built in. (c) openigloo Most units have dishwasher and (c) openigloo nice appliances.
Cons:
The management of this building (c) openigloo is extremely high turn over (c) openigloo - I’ve seen 3 companies (c) openigloo in 3 years. Within the (c) openigloo last year the place has (c) openigloo become rat infested, frequently covered (c) openigloo in trash, and falling apart. (c) openigloo As of March 1 2023 (c) openigloo the building has had a (c) openigloo full vacate order due to (c) openigloo the facade crumbling off the (c) openigloo front of the building. During (c) openigloo said vacate order, the built (c) openigloo was left unsecured and was (c) openigloo burglarized. Other issues include extremely (c) openigloo slow-to-heat water (I typically have (c) openigloo to give shower 10 min (c) openigloo to warm up). FDNY declared (c) openigloo the boiler “disgusting” and it (c) openigloo frequently gets shut down for (c) openigloo repairs. The mail room has (c) openigloo frequent package thieves. The back (c) openigloo door that leads to recycling (c) openigloo area / alleyway has NEVER (c) openigloo been able to shut in (c) openigloo the several years I’ve lived (c) openigloo here. Hence, rat infestation. The (c) openigloo units are very small. 1 (c) openigloo beds are maximum 300 sq (c) openigloo ft and seem to be (c) openigloo studios that they stuck flex (c) openigloo walls in. Some of the (c) openigloo 2 beds’ smaller rooms are (c) openigloo the size of literally just (c) openigloo a bed. It is uncomfortable (c) openigloo having guests over as it (c) openigloo immediately feels cramped.
Advice to owner:
REPAIR YOUR BUILDING, KEEP IT CLEAN, AND SECURE YOUR ENTRANCES.
