Summarized from anonymous rental reviews on openigloo.
Recent reviews of 916 3 Avenue reveal a mix of highs and significant concerns. Renters praise the building's prime Manhattan location, helpful super, and responsive landlord. Some appreciate the reasonable pricing for the area and occasional furnished units. However, persistent issues with pest infestations (roaches and rats), poor cleanliness, outdated interiors, and thin walls causing noise disturbances are commonly reported. Several tenants highlight the need for thorough pest control, building renovations, and improved ventilation. While the owner responsiveness receives some positive remarks, many advise lowering rent to better match the building’s condition. Overall, it suits budget-conscious renters willing to tolerate building flaws but may not satisfy those seeking a well-maintained residence.

INFESTED WITH ROACHES
Former Tenant
Pros:
The location is very ideal
Cons:
The building is infested with roaches! Especially the second and third floors! No proper pest control is taken place even though an exterminator does come once in a while, it does not help! Yes this is New York City but there is a difference between seeing a few bugs and an infestation!!!! This place is too expensive to have these types of issues!! Also side note, the walls are thin so if you have a noisy neighbor, you can hear every conversation.
Advice to owner:

Wouldn't recommend living here unless balling on a budget
Former Tenant
Pros:
The super was very helpful and responsive. The apartment complex itself was also very centrally located and easily accessible from anywhere in the city.
Cons:
The apartment from the day we moved in was dirty. Floors were disgusting, I was scared to look under the claw foot tub in the bathroom and the bathroom itself looked like borderline a crime scene. We also never found droppings/saw a mouse but would notice things like chewed garbage bags etc. so there was definitely a problem with mice which we could see when we'd go to take the garbage out downstairs. That said - the apartment is really and reasonably priced for new york, so if you are looking for a decent place to live it wouldn't be terrible.
