Pros:
If you are moving into this building, you are likely moving into a recently renovated unit, so that's a positive. Sadly, this is likely to be the only one, and I can guarantee that it will be short lived.
The apartment is spacious with a recently renovated kitchen, and hardwood floors throughout the apartment.
Cons:
The cons of this building far outweigh the pros, but we only learned of them after signing our lease.
1) There is a vagrant that sleeps in the vestibule, and although management is aware of this, they have done absolutely nothing to rectify the situation. This person seems to have a sponsor in the building, who washes his clothes and feeds him. If you are not careful, you might see him bathing himself in the laundry room.
2) The common areas seem to be an afterthought. One would think that management might invest in the common areas, since its the first thing that a potential tenant will see. The walls are dirty, and if they are patched for some reason, they will remain that way.
3) Neighbors routinely leave their trash on the stairs, or in the elevator. I mean, who wants to live among such filth? It's no wonder the building has a rodent and vermin problem.
4) Don't be fooled by the security cameras, as they do not work. Sadly, me and my partner only learned of this after we had some packages stolen. When we reached out to management, they indicated that the cameras had not worked in some time. I guess the criminals are aware of this.
5) The laundry room has six washers, and six dryers. Unfortunately, they break often, and it takes quite some time for them to be repaired. One washer has been broken for over a year, and management is in no hurry to have it fixed (obviously).
6) The front door is often broken, so this makes it easier for people to come in and steal packages, or do whatever. Of course, if there were working cameras, one might be able to address this.
I think any potential tenant gets the picture.. If you have other options, you would be advised to pursue them.
Advice to owner:
Invest in the common areas, as those of us paying market rate rent should not be subjected to these rundown areas.
