a roach motel
Former Tenant
Pros:
some great neighbors, thomas at the front desk is a sweetheart, sort of convenient.
Cons:
some terrible neighbors, trash room on each floor attracts pests with these weird open bins, roaches in the hallway, roaches on the elevator panel, roaches in the elevator, roaches in my apartment
Advice to owner:
pleaaaaase fix the roach + trash problem. i know all of nyc has some roaches but we forreal have an infestation.

Great affordable units
Former Tenant
Pros:
Rent stabilized so rent only goes up by a small percentage each year. The doormen and bulging staff are very helpful and friendly. The units are spacious and have lots of closet space. The building is very convenient—located near the subway and lots of good restaurants and bars. Units facing the street may be too loud for some people, but it doesn’t bother me.
Cons:
Too cold in the winter. The units are not sound proofed well so I hear my upstairs neighbors often. Common areas (like the laundry room) need to be updated and cleaned.
Advice to owner:
The laundry room needs to be cleaned and common areas need to be updated. The patio is not well utilized—should put more chair outside and plans do people can enjoy it.

Great Family Building
Former Tenant
Pros:
I have lived here for many years and love the family feeling in the building. Everyone Says hello when passing in the hallway and chats in the gym and laundry room. Our wonderful doormen keep us and our packages safe!
Cons:
I with them upkeep of the hallways and stairwells was a bit better. The building could do with some fresh paint and new carpet.
Advice to owner:
Having someone walk the stairwells occasionally would be great. The amount of cigarette butts that accumulate in the back stairwells is gross.

Loved living in this building
Former Tenant
Pros:
The elevators always work, neighbors are hospitable and kind, and the doormen are very helpful. Lived here for a year and never saw a rodent, and the building stays very clean in common areas.
Cons:
This is so nitpicky, but the gym needs a bit of updating. Honestly, it’s not that bad and very convenient.

The Douglas in Harlem
Former Tenant
Pros:
The neighborhood is AMAZING
The doormen are incredibly sweet, especially Thomas.
Laundry and (small) gym in the building are a great perk.
Cons:
The landlords are hostile and mean, and responds to criticism with comments like “then move somewhere else”. The actual rental company itself is not responsive or kind.
The super (Eddie) is a pathological liar, bully and racist. He charged people of color more for laundry cards, and made racial slurs. He never works but when he does it’s bad work, which he then blames on others.
Advice to owner:
Fire Eddie. He’s a lazy, crooked, horrible man.
