Its the grand concourse what else do you expect
Former Tenant
Pros:
I liked that no one bothers you, everybody minds their own business.
Cons:
They have a horrible black mold problem and they know it. In the lease it says tenant is responsible for all mold i thought it would be no big deal. After a year of living there me and my family were all sick from the mold no matter how much bleach we used, it was in the air.

Nothing new
Former Tenant
Pros:
People don’t complain about noise so if you’re having a gathering you’re safe. Everyone minds there business. Downstairs door is always locked.
Cons:
They have not cleaned the entire building since covid started. The apartments are freezing and when you complain about it, all they say is legally they don’t have to make it warmer. But we have vintage one pane windows in two bedrooms so you can literally feel the wind and hear everything outside. The vintage windows are on the fire escape side, which is extremely unsafe due to them being so old they are very hard to open one of them barely opens halfway and they are extremely loud due to rust and corrosion. Elevator barely fits three people. I had a leak in my bathroom, and living room. All they did in the living room was put a little plaster while it was still wet and now my ceiling is changing colors around it. And my bathroom wall is still currently bubbled. The incinerator handles are filthy, theres lots of flys in the hallway. Some neighbors smoke in the elevator. The elevator door doesn’t really have that bumper feature and kind of feels dangerous because it closes so harshly. I have emailed management about the leak problem and i never heard back, been about six months now. Very hard to wall mount tvs as everything feels it was made wrong. Even hired a professional contractor to hang my tv and he was very confused as well. When i moved in my sliding closet doors had a broken nob an i asked the people fixing the place to change it and they put an entirely different nob (non matching). Floors creak (I don’t entirely mind) but can be very loud. Bathroom gets moldy, there is a vent but it looks painted over. Oh and tons of roaches (I’ve tried everything to get rid of them). Haven’t seen any mice and I’ve been here a year and a half. Management also asked for a picture the day of the lease signing which made all of us extremely uncomfortable (not sure if it was legal). Also was told I can’t remove anyone off my lease due to my income not being enough, even though i’ve been the only one paying the rent for almost a year now. Toilet also feels like its falling apart but I’m pretty sure ill have to pay someone to fix it because I’m pretty sure the superintendent has no idea what he is actually doing (I’ve e asked for help before). And i never get a response from management. I don’t mind much of this because I’ve lived in the bronx my entire life (slum lords are very common) but just a tad annoying that my rent was raised $27 and not pets aloud.
Advice to owner:
Your rules shouldn’t be so extensive for such poor management of the building.
