Summarized from anonymous rental reviews on openigloo.
Recent reviews of 189 Grand Street Extension, Brooklyn, highlight a well-maintained, clean building with excellent pest control and water pressure. The super is consistently praised for being helpful and present on site. Apartments offer good layouts with strong soundproofing between units and useful amenities like elevators, package rooms, and laundry on each floor. However, noise from a nearby restaurant impacts units, especially on lower floors and street-facing sides, and the windows are often described as thin, leading to drafts and insufficient insulation. Heating distribution issues in corner units have also been noted. While management is responsive at times, some renters seek improvements in window quality and noise control.

Well-maintained and built building
Former Tenant
Pros:
Nice finishes, soundproofing between units and an AMAZING super who lives on site.
Cons:
The windows are not double glazed so they are quite drafty and noise from the street comes through pretty clearly.

Overall a very pleasant building to live in
Former Tenant
Pros:
The super is very nice and helpful always! Remains clean and I always felt very safe in the building.
Cons:
The noise level from the Mexican restaurant was very loud. If you’re in a corner unit, the bedrooms can be very cold in the winter due to lots of windows and very little heat distribution (VERY hot living room and cold bedrooms).
Advice to owner:
Fix the heat issue.
