Lovely Neighborhood BUT NEEDS UPDATES

Pros:
Many people have been living in this building/complex for 10+ years. Very family oriented and safe. I see lots of elders taking walks past midnight and most of my neighbors know each other. My apartment is a truly spacious one bedroom (I.e full kitchen separate from living room). It rarely ever gets loud and when it does, it’s mostly kids playing outside. It is also rent stabilized!
Cons:
We are currently dealing with a rat infestation in the basement (which is where the trash is). I’ve had a mouse problem in my apartment for about 2 years now. The super initially just kept putting mouse traps. It took a lot of back and forth before the landlord brought someone to seal all the holes. The building is old and needs a lot of updates that is taking forever. Our laundry room is also being updated, so they’ve restricted hours. When I first moved, it was open 24/7. Then it switched to the room closing at 11 PM. Now, it’s temporarily closed until 6 PM while they fix things.

Nice building but pest problem

Pros:
Great neighborhood, beautiful courtyard and nice neighbors.
Cons:
There are roach infestation in some units that seems ongoing and also seen in the basement.
Advice to owner:
Time to hire the professionals to remove this pest issue.
