Building Overview
Building Report
Review Summary for 1186 Putnam Avenue
Summarized from anonymous rental reviews on openigloo.
Recent tenant reviews for 1186 Putnam Avenue in Brooklyn highlight the spacious apartments, responsive landlords, and good water pressure as positives. However, persistent pest issues like mice and roaches were a common concern among residents. Some tenants faced unfair eviction threats due to financial disputes. While the building's smaller size helped with noise levels, issues like loud music on weekends affected some. Suggestions included regular extermination checks and lease rider petitions. Despite some drawbacks, the building seems to offer adequate amenities, but improvements in pest control and tenant-landlord communication are needed.

Beautiful apartment, nice landlord, tricky laws
Former Tenant
Pros:
Gorgeous spacious apartment
Two full bathrooms in my three bedroom unit
Responsive, responsible landlord with superintendent on site
Smaller building so noise wasn't so bad
Cons:
Persistent pest problem (roaches and mice)
Came onto a lease with two strangers. Toward the end of our lease, landlord let us know there was a balance that need to be paid. Two roommates moved out and then I was told that one of them had not been paying and the first order of business for the landlord and his lawyer was to evict me since I had signed a new lease. It was one of the most stressful experiences of my life that was completely unfair and the only reason I didn't wind up being evicted was because I was able to secure a lawyer who eventually came up with a compromise between us.
Advice to owner:
Petition for lease riders to be available to tenants
