Summarized from anonymous rental reviews on openigloo.
Recent reviews for 846 Monroe Street in Brooklyn, NY reflect a challenging environment due to disruptive and violent neighbors, poor management intervention, and serious safety issues like break-ins and blackmold. Renters express disappointment in management's responsiveness and inability to address critical maintenance concerns promptly. Despite some spacious units and in-unit amenities, these positives are overshadowed by the chaotic and concerning living conditions, leading to a lack of recommendation for this building. Traumatizing Rental Experience
Former Tenant
Pros:
None. This was the worst apartment I ever lived in. Worst management as well.
Cons:
Our apartment was broken into by the friend of one of our downstairs neighbors. These same neighbors would be so violent and disruptive to the rest of the building that the police would make visits at least 5-6 times a month. Management failed to intervene to a degree that our neighbors definitely felt empowered leading to the breakin. To my knowledge these problem tenants STILL live there and are wreaking havoc to this day. In addition to all of this, our next door neighbors had black mold in the corners of their unit. I swear to god renting from here was straight out of a Charles Dickens book, f— you YNS management. If you plan on working with YNS, please consider also hiring a priest, witch doctor, or spiritual advisor.
Advice to owner:
Try another career path, being a landlord clearly isn’t for you!

Don't Rent Here
Former Tenant
Pros:
My apartment had washer/dryer and a dishwasher in the unit, two full bathrooms, and was a duplex so the space was huge. For the price, it really was a steal.
Cons:
Management is awful. They refuse to answer maintenance tickets and disregard your attempts to communciate with them. A tenant's friend broek into my neighbor's apartment, and manegement refused to do anythign about it. Those same tenants always brough drunk or high friends into the building, and constantly made noise to the point where the cops were called several times a week. Oh, and they always stole packages. Just don't rent here.
Advice to owner:
Don't rent to seedy people who bring in unwelcome guests to the building, causing loyal tennats to leave.

Horrible Management/Brokers. READ THE LEASE
Former Tenant
Pros:
Beautiful building on the outside
Cons:
The landlord/brokers will NOT amend the lease and it puts the responsibility on the renters to REPLACE APPLIANCES, gives the landlord access to the unit with NO notice, and, should the landlord sue tenants for ANY reason, the tenants are financially responsible for the landlord’s legal fees.
Advice to owner:
Don’t be a slum lord.
