Whatever you do... DO NOT RENT WITH GATES APT LLC.
Former Tenant
Pros:
literally none at all.
Cons:
The building is infested with rats, the neighborhood is infested with rats, the landlord is incredibly unresponsive and negligent, the super Lisa is terrible, untimely and unhelpful. THE LANDLORD IS NOTORIOUS FOR NOT RETURNING SECURITY DEPOSITS REGARDLESS OF THE CONDITIONS THE APARTMENT WAS LEFT IN. DO NOT LIVE HERE.
Advice to owner:
DO BETTER.

1706 gates worse building in ridgewood
Former Tenant
Pros:
The only pro is the neighborhood
Cons:
The Lanlord is literally a slumlord his name is Saul Brad, when ever you need anything repaired its either never done in a timely order or not repaired at all I had a non working refrigerator and dishwasher for over a year and I wasn’t the only tenant in the building. To top it off whenever you ask for repairs Lanlord will get upset and try to raise rent $1000 + at end of lease just to get you to move

Cheap repairs and shitty construction
Former Tenant
Pros:
I enjoyed the neighborhood, the food options, the roommates I had.
Cons:
Horrible at repairing anything, I knew one person that had a hole with a large bucket in the room the entire time she lived in her room. We also had kitchen issues and they were never fixed and done half ass.
Advice to owner:
Make better choices

DO NOT MOVE HERE
Former Tenant
Pros:
The apartment was a decent size, I love Ridgewood, and it seemed like a good deal at the time. The gym downstairs is nice. They refunded my deposit in full since they knew how terrible they were.
Cons:
Pests!!!!!!! I cannot discourage people from living in this building enough. For about a year off and on I dealt with my ceiling leaking (and dirty water getting all over my things and my bed). The super always came eventually, but took FOREVER. He would always just repair the ceiling from the inside, without ever repairing/investigating the root of the problem, so my ceiling continued to leak for most of the time I lived there. By my last 6 months in the apartment, no one came to repair my ceiling. Consequently, mold started growing on the ceiling, and under the paint on the walls, which I didn’t even discover until moving out. I was breathing in moldy air for 2 years and didn’t even realize it! Flies were always a big problem in the kitchen, but they got especially bad by my last few months living in the apartment because of my ceiling leak. They made a nest in the ceiling and were living in my room, leaving me forced to sleep on my couch. Of course, the living room wasn’t much better. Also during my last few months there, I discovered a crack in the bathtub where hundreds of little bugs were coming in and out. SO GROSS! Our fridge was leaking pretty much the whole time we lived there, and everytime a the super came, he acted like we were stupid and told us it was just the temperature. We always kept the fridge on the lowest setting, so obviously he was full of it. Also, everytime someone came to make a repair, they left our things dirty and disheveled. I cannot believe I lived here for 2 years—Do yourself a favor and DO NOT MOVE HERE.
Advice to owner:
DO BETTER!!! Do not allow people to live in units with bugs and pests and leaks and endless damages!!!!
