Review summary

Summarized from anonymous rental reviews on Openigloo.

Recent tenant feedback for buildings managed by LEE JAY ASSOCIATES LLC reveals a pattern of underwhelming management responsiveness, especially concerning pest control and maintenance issues. While residents appreciate friendly neighbors and decent locations, many report persistent cockroach infestations and cleanliness problems in common areas. Heating and water pressure receive mixed reviews, with some improvements noted over time. Management is often slow to address repair needs, and tenants express frustration over inadequate support for building maintenance staff. Despite these challenges, some residents value the community atmosphere and still recommend living in the buildings, hoping for better proactive building upkeep and pest eradication efforts.

Great People, poor Management

Pros

Amazing apartments, view, laundry, great neighborhood, solid walls, friendly neighbors, it’s so enjoyable here.

Cons

So many issues regarding managing the building well. Water temperature constantly fluctuates and is usually too hot or too cold. Pests everywhere. No good screens in any window and the windows are open during the summer all day and night. Dead roaches often seen in the hallways especially in the basement. Lots of cracks in the apartments. I’ve heard roaches crawling in the walls at night during the winter. Spiders galore. Centipedes. And I have done things to seal off my apartment. I’ve never seen so many bugs and management is completely unconcerned about it. I’ve seen mice running during the day in the basement on my way to the laundry room. Gross. Incredibly slow response times. They sent me my lease renewal over 6 months late. Then they tried to rush me to get it signed when I am due 60 days to review the lease agreement from the time of delivery, not when they were actually supposed to send it. Laundry room floods at least 5x a year. Elevator goes out occasionally, about 3x in a year. Elevator is old and slow but not bad at all. They offer pest control but never pest prevention. Had to nearly beg the super to get some guys in to recaulk all gaps in my apartment and all he did was add some white tape for me on top of some of the molding. Needless to say, that was not enough to seal all gaps and prevent all bugs from entering in the first place. Had to do it myself. Also needed to recaulk my bathroom as the tile was unprotected. It now looks worse than it did before because nothing was sprayed over the black mold before sealing it so the silicone caulk is completely black underneath and it looks horrendous. I could go on and on.

Advice to the owners

I need the corporate management company to actually do some work and support the super better. There should be at least 3-5 full time guys managing the near 72 units and the rest of the building. There are only 2.

horrific cockroach infestation throughout building

Pros

location near the Q and Cortelyou shopping

Cons

absolutely heinous cockroach infestation throughout building. management does nothing to combat it at the scale required. if you look closely at the elevator you will see that even there are feces all over the building walls. absolutely horrendous experience.

Advice to the owners

you are a shameless slumlord. address this issue immediately so that all tenants can live with basic dignity.
