Review Summary for Stateview Management LLC
Summarized from anonymous rental reviews on openigloo.
Tenant reviews for STATEVIEW MANAGEMENT LLC properties reveal a mix of appealing apartment designs and problematic management. Many praise the spacious units, pet-friendly policies, and good locations, with amenities like laundry rooms and gyms that, while appreciated, often suffer from poor maintenance. A recurring issue is pest infestations, especially cockroaches, and concerns about cleanliness and garbage management. Residents frequently report unresponsive or slow management, leading to unresolved maintenance requests. Noise levels vary but thin walls and hallway noise are common complaints. Package theft is another prevalent problem, and rent increases without sufficient improvements frustrate tenants. Overall, management appears inconsistent, with a need for better maintenance, pest control, and tenant relations to improve resident satisfaction.

Pretty units but poorly maintained
Former Tenant
Pros:
A few of the units are huge and have great, spacious layouts that are hard to find anywhere else in nyc for the same price. I haven’t really had much of a problem with management. They seem rude at first but you’ll quickly realize that’s just how they talk. Maintenance requests get ignored at first but once you follow up, they will address it. Soundproofing between the units is fine, but you can hear everything going on in the hallway and everyone in the hallway can hear you.
Cons:
1. Moved out because I just couldn’t deal with the amount of bugs I was getting. I’m extremely clean and still managed to find cockroaches on my bed, clothes, and in my dishwasher several times. And this is with mgmt already having an exterminator come every few weeks, AND with me using Advion and Gentrol regularly, setting traps, sealing all my food, taking out trash daily, etc. I probably spent hundreds of dollars on pest control products and countless hours doing whatever I could to get it under control only for nothing to work.
2. Hot water in the shower will shut off. I don't know if there's a built-in timer somewhere or what but it stops exactly at the 20 min mark every single time.
3. Windows aren’t properly sealed so you will get a lot of water inside your apartment when it rains. Be prepared to have towels lined up.
Advice to owner:
The units are beautiful so this really could be a great place to live if only the building was better maintained (and all the gaps in the windows/doors/walls/everywhere were sealed correctly)

Nice facade of a apt complex
Former Tenant
Pros:
the design of my apartment
Cons:
Management's inability to fix half of the broken washer and dryers. Cockroaches in the basement. Mold in the shower chaulk. Hot water does not last. Hot water in the tub comes out brown-tinted. Noise levels. Package theft.
Advice to owner:
Solve the issues you say you will.

DESERVES ZERO STARS
Former Tenant
Pros:
…Proximity to the park is nice.
Cons:
1. If you want to live here, get a P.O. Box. Your packages WILL get stolen.
2. Constant pests issues. Upon moving in there were dead roaches EVERYWHERE in the unit. After about a month there were live roaches everywhere. About midway through my lease the building was infested by horse flys, or something of the sort. There were about 10 new ones a day, and the laundry room was scattered with dead ones.
3. Oh and the laundry room… smells like mold. Good luck getting your clothes fresh and clean in there. They also kept raising the prices on the machines?!?! Like really, for your moldy laundry room.
4. If you ever forget/lose your key, building management will tell you it’s $100 to replace. THEIR BEST ADVICE IS TO JUST BREAK INTO YOUR UNIT WITH A CREDIT CARD, which is insanely easy to do. Safety first, am I right.
Advice to owner:
Get it together :)

Decent place but too expensive

Pet friendly, backyard, good location
Cons:
Packages got stolen, raised rent $600 after a year, never responded to mantainence calls
Advice to owner:

Luxury ? ??
Former Tenant
Pros:
The building and the apartments are aesthetically pleasing. There's also a package locker room. 2 blocks away from the L train and B26 stops right in front of the building.
Cons:
Walls are super thin. We have a small laundry room but only half of the washer and dryers work. Rooftop is unfinished and the gym is a joke. Neighbors have complained about roaches and vermin but I haven't had an issue with either but the building did have an exterminator come through.

Looks nice but they don’t really care
Former Tenant
Pros:
This building is pretty new, the heat and air conditioning are controlled in each room, there’s a finished rooftop, laundry room and a lounge/workspace. There’s also a sister building around the corner that has a gym, another finished rooftop and lounge spaces you can use.
Cons:
The building management doesn’t really care. So far this year I’ve put in 16 tickets alone because either a washer or dryer doesn’t work. They don’t seem to do any preventative maintenance when it comes to amenities just waits for tickets. The cleaning standards have gone down significantly this year. I think they vacuum once a week at most. The garbage rooms are constantly filled with trash. The laundry room is always dirty. I’ve had two packages stolen and all they’ve done about it is tell me “we’ve reviewed the footage and somebody came in and took it. file a police report”. I could keep going with more things but the bottom line is this place is fine, not great. Not terrible just fine; but definitely not the quality of what it should be for what you pay to be here
Advice to owner:
Care about every part of your space more, not just the part new tenants see. Care about your tenants more we pay a good amount to be here

A $30,000 Millionaire
Former Tenant
Pros:
Spacious rooms, provides wardrobe if the room doesn't have one, laundry in building, elevator, furnished roof, cleaning crew that visits daily, access to gym at neighboring building
Cons:
Like most new Bushwick apartments, this is a $30,000 millionaire. Cheap, shoddy, corner-cutting work that was already falling apart in its second year. They dress it up with amenities but those are a distraction from how miserable you will be living in these poorly constructed rooms. Additionally, they did not give back the full security deposit, even though they failed to send an itemized list of needed repairs. Based on THE LAW, I should have received my full deposit.

Trash fire of a building
Former Tenant
Pros:
Upper floor apartments have beautiful tall ceilings. A lot of the tenants are very sweet and cool people - when I moved out they were in the middle of unionizing. The super and his family are truly lovely.
Cons:
1. The landlord is shady and predatory. Never gave me a copy of my lease, never fixed anything as promised (eg cracked and broken windows), never delivered on other promises (like a roof deck or equipped gym).
2. The building was VERY poorly and cheaply renovated. My AC and heat both broke, cracked windows were never replaced, and at one point nearly every unit in the building had water leaks through their ceilings. Management was fully unresponsive. Tenants had to band together and threaten to stop paying rent in order to get plumbers over, who didn’t resolve the issue.
3. If you lose your laundry card, you’re screwed. The company that sends them out takes months to mail them. Washer and dryers were constantly breaking and the repair people just said that they’re cheap units.
4. The walls are PAPER thin. You can hear full conversations from tenants in the units next to you, and their DJ sets that would go until 4am.
5. When I lived there, people moved into the unit across from me and started stealing everyone’s packages. If you have a bike, even if you put it in the locked are out back, it WILL get stolen.
6. The windows are super thin and have no insulation. When people would smoke outside, I’d smell it like they were inside my apt. The neighborhood is really loud so you constantly get woken up by fireworks/gunshots.
7. Apartments are wildly overpriced given the cheap appliances, sloppy renovations, and aggressively rude management.

It was a good time
Former Tenant
Pros:
I liked that it was newer and we didn’t have many mechanical issues with anything.
Cons:
We were on the second floor and randomly had ants once but other than that I never saw anything pest wise . Common area rules were on the stricter side but otherwise not bad.

Absent management here
Former Tenant
Pros:
Super excellent at keeping common area neat and clean.
Cons:
They do not respond to anything.
Advice to owner:
Fix the apartments -

Fine but not great
Former Tenant
Pros:
No real sound issues, clean halls and great building manager.
Cons:
The washer/dryer was alway broken and the building owners never respond to emails or text. The gym is grimy and small. It’s over priced for the place, location and amenities.

The property owner tried to increase my rent (to the gross rate) in April of the start to covid. we moved out.
Advice to owner:
Answer people, fix amenities quicker, much quicker.

MUST AVOID
Former Tenant
Pros:
Nothing at all!
Cons:
Property owner isn’t considerate, charges late rent fees during coronavirus pandemic, allows tenants who rent out their apartments to Airbnb which brings strangers and party people inside the premises, they don’t sanitize the premises during the virus crisis.
Advice to owner:
Stop badgering tenants for rent during a financial struggle in the middle of a pandemic!

Thoughts on a sublet
Former Tenant
Pros:
Great amenities and gym
Cons:
Sometimes loud neighbors and laundry room was a little messy.
