Good, no frills building
Former Tenant
Pros:
Great live-in staff, laundry always worked, quiet neighbors
Cons:
Management could be hard to get a hold of, unless you were able to catch them when they were at their phone

Horrible! Do not rent!
Former Tenant
Pros:
The apartment seemed like it had a nice layout when I was 25 and broke, but little did I know that we were in for a hellish experience. Spacious living room is about all that I can say.
Cons:
HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE FOR MANY REASONS!!!
-We were coerced into signing a two year lease -We had a break in, and little was done by the property owner to assist us in recovering the stolen items -We had RECURRING issues with bed bugs -Building cleanliness was horrible, and garbage routinely piled up in the basement, cockroaches on the walls -The only way we were able to get out of our lease after having multiple instances of bed bugs was to dupe another renter into taking over our lease -The building management/owner (one in the same) did not disclose the bed bug issue to the new renters, as required by law -The new renters had issues with bed bugs and also had a break in
Advice to owner:
GO TO HELL

Solid apartment with good management
Former Tenant
Pros:
Very responsive landlord that handled issues quickly.
Cons:
No real cons for me minus the lack of washer and dryer in unit which is pretty common for NYC.

Good Space Slow Working Maintenance
Former Tenant
Pros:
Large space for a decent price
Cons:
Problems with mice, and the super will occasionally have such parties in the courtyard until 3/4am with music so loud that you can’t hear people talking in the room with you.
If there’s any issue it’s also very difficult to get the super to respond, and even if he does, he usually doesn’t properly fix the problem and leaves.

Responsive landlord!
Former Tenant
Pros:
I had a bit of a roach issue when first moving in but it’s now under control and the landlord is super responsive, very communicative!
Cons:
Definitely some pest issues but the building is very on top of it

Beautiful apartment, nice landlord, tricky laws
Former Tenant
Pros:
Gorgeous spacious apartment Two full bathrooms in my three bedroom unit Responsive, responsible landlord with superintendent on site Smaller building so noise wasn't so bad
Cons:
Persistent pest problem (roaches and mice) Came onto a lease with two strangers. Toward the end of our lease, landlord let us know there was a balance that need to be paid. Two roommates moved out and then I was told that one of them had not been paying and the first order of business for the landlord and his lawyer was to evict me since I had signed a new lease. It was one of the most stressful experiences of my life that was completely unfair and the only reason I didn't wind up being evicted was because I was able to secure a lawyer who eventually came up with a compromise between us.
Advice to owner:
Petition for lease riders to be available to tenants

great except the mice
Former Tenant
Pros:
loved the roof, apartment was nice new construction and bedrooms were large
Cons:
terrible mouse infestation during my time there even though the apartment was kept very clean by the household
It’s close to the J and in front of a park. Includes washer dryers, and dishwasher, and recently renovated. Package room available but the delivery people don’t know about it. Allows dogs.
Cons:
Heat problems, hot water problems, A LOT of noise, no a/c, and they charge you for installing an a/c, floors are slanted, windows are filthy and let the cold in, and they refuse to fix it. Elevator always breaking down. Management say they will fix but don’t do anything.
Advice to owner:
Fix issues that tenants bring up!! We not living here for free

1182 Putnam Ave
Former Tenant
Pros:
Not too far from the J, apartments are pretty spacious for Brooklyn, the neighborhood is fairly quiet, and there’s a laundry room in the basement
Cons:
Walls are thin between rooms and apartments, and there have been some issues with leaking when rain gets heavy

Wanted to love it but the roaches
Former Tenant
Pros:
Location is great - access to Vanderbilt Avenue is wonderful.
Cons:
So many roaches. When I first moved in they were HUGE. I complained to management about the situation and they said that pest control comes on Thursdays at 1pm. For those tenants who work during the day they couldn’t get service. This put the pressure on me to address the problem. I installed everything I could buy from Amazon and I would still see smaller a few roaches maybe 1-2x per month.
Advice to owner:
Change the time of exterminator visits to something that works for more of your tenants to get things under control.

Low-quality construction makes great apt merely good
Former Tenant
Pros:
The building management is generally responsive. Neighbors are kind, look out for each other, and are quiet.
The super is responsive and just the nicest guy.
Cons:
It is always cold in the winter. No amount of complaining will result in getting the heat turned up. Consistently in the mid-60’s during the winter.
Mice and rats are a problem in the front area and get into apartments occasionally. Building responds well to pest complaints though.
Everything about the construction of units is shoddy. Repairs are never 100%.
Advice to owner:
When Renovating apartments, take the care to use high-quality appliances that are also installed flush with the wall, insulated windows, and level counters.

944 Apt Review
Former Tenant
Pros:
The Asian man in management is nice. (Can’t remember his name! Sorry!) My apartment was spacious and the on site manager Jeff is amazing.
Cons:
Roaches! I had bugs! The shires are dirty and need to be closed off. No heat that fills the apartment so I bought space heaters.
Advice to owner:
Slowly fix the building up. The rent is too high for what you get.
