Review Summary for Shinda Management Corporation
Summarized from anonymous rental reviews on openigloo.
Recent tenant feedback for SHINDA MANAGEMENT CORPORATION reveals widespread concerns regarding management responsiveness and building upkeep. Many residents report poor communication, unresolved maintenance issues, pest infestations, and safety challenges including unsecured entrances and problematic tenant behavior. While some buildings show decent cleanliness and neighborliness, the overall impression highlights negligence in addressing urgent repairs, heating problems, and security. A few positive remarks acknowledge spacious apartments and occasional timely fixes. Tenants strongly urge improvements in transparency, accountability, pest control, and tenant screening. The management often appears unresponsive or dismissive, resulting in low tenant satisfaction and trust across multiple locations.

Safety, Transparency, and Management Concerns
Former Tenant
Pros:
Nothing at all
Cons:
Everything

I’ve lived at 126 West 83rd Street long enough to witness repeated and serious failures by both Shinda Management and St. Matthew & St. Timothy’s leadership. Safety in the building has been an ongoing concern, compounded by poor communication, lack of transparency, and questionable hiring practices.

Tenants have raised repeated concerns about unresolved hazardous conditions, broken front door locks, recurring maintenance issues, and residents feeling unsafe due to both building conditions and the conduct of certain staff members. There have been troubling patterns of secretive tenant placements, inadequate vetting, and a lack of accountability when problems arise.

Communication from management is minimal, and responses to tenant concerns are often delayed or dismissive. Several residents, including vulnerable seniors and families, have reported feeling intimidated or targeted after raising issues.

This building has potential, but it needs professional, qualified management that prioritizes tenant safety, transparency, and compliance with housing laws. Until there is real accountability and improvement in operations, I cannot recommend this property.
Advice to owner:
Resign, you are incompetent and negligent individuals who put people's lives in danger every day.

Mishandled Annual Recertification

Complaining about Shinda management. At 560 Winthrop st. Brooklun Ny 11203.
Former Tenant
Pros:
The building is clean. Ya neighbors don't bother you. It's in a nice place brooklyn ny. We have a laundromat in the building. Which is convenient for us tenants.
Cons:
The case managers never help you with your immediate needs. I won a housing court issue. And i still have rent debt. Even though Shinda management is ditectly the reason behind my rent debt. What should have happened my rent debt should of been cleared. I was buring incense with my window open. A neighbor complained about it. But the neighbor never would've been abled to complain about smelling incense. Had they had they window closed. I told them the only way they could've had a argument about me burning incense. If i would have been walking up and down the hallway burning incense. Which i did not do.
Advice to owner:
Hopefully they staff can be sanctioned for not doing the right thing.

Save your money
Former Tenant
Pros:
The hallways tiles are nice
Cons:
Super sucks- doesn’t know how to fix anything.. doesn’t even have a toolbox-

Management is the WORST EVER!! It’s 24 degrees outside & We have to use space heaters in our apartments because they don’t want to turn the heat on in the building

Mice problem is OUT OF CONTROL in the building because management isnt managing anything.. won’t even get us an exterminator..
Advice to owner:
Quit your day job- go work at Subway or something..

Don't move into this building
Former Tenant
Pros:
Heat and hot water
Cons:
Since New management Co. Lemme & Wolfe assigned, many repairs go unresolved. New building staff has been hired and they are all of the same race. Dont really care if the building is clean. Roaches EVERYWHERE. New super is racist.
Advice to owner:
Go back to using Foxy management

Liveable Renovated Tolerant Temporarily
Former Tenant
Pros:
Renovated apartment, layout and size of apartment, updated countertops, appliance
Cons:
Walk-Up building, roof door left unlocked, not all public transportation immediately accessible, overcrowding area/population, incomplete/incorrect/faulty heat valve/pipe placed/not replaced immediately after multiple complaints, lead to mold when heat complaints were finally not ignored and heat was increased, crime-written area ie stabbing, fights, arguments, noisy area in warmer months

Disgusting and only care about helping their friends.
Former Tenant
Pros:
There are none
Cons:
Alleged mentally ill tenant causing disturbances and Shinda is not rectifying the issue. Every building owned by Shinda has at least one tenant making it bad for others. Can’t even enjoy your apartment.
Advice to owner:
Listen to and help tenants who actually pay rent

A good safe place to live

A good place clean and fairly new. Great staff
Cons:
Small apartment and sometimes hallways could be cleaner.
Advice to owner:
Better cleaning of hallways

I hate it here
Former Tenant
Pros:
Laundry room and event rooms available for rent
Cons:
Washer-dryers never work. Machine to put money in your laundry card always down or takes your money without putting it on your card (I’ve lost about $40 the past few months because of this). Rats, mold, renters raise the price during Covid to 3x what it originally was, and every time I get it fixed, the next month a similar issue pops up. No heat until the end of November.
Advice to owner:
Sell the property to someone who cares about poor people protected by HUD

Not the best building or area to live in
Former Tenant
Pros:
Close to buses ONLY.
Close to grocery stores, supermarkets, discount stores, banks and fast food takeout restaurants.
Cons:
Small apartments/bedrooms.
Noisy neighbors.
Management team takes months-year to complete apartment work orders.
Gun and gang violence in the neighborhood.
Trains are not nearby.
PARKING IS HORRIBLE!!!!!!
Advice to owner:
Complete work orders in a timely manner.
Request Tenant meetings.

Nice and Homey
Former Tenant
Pros:
Not too bad for the area that it is in.
It’s very cozy and has an “old school” vibe to the building.
Cons:
Being that it is an apartment building, people live above and below depending on what floor level you’re on. So neighbors upstairs had some loud feet but it was never too crazy.

The area is depressing because of all the drug activity
Former Tenant
Pros:
Is the asset to connect to buses and train
Cons:
The level of noise from the neighbors and the drug dealers in the building
Advice to owner:
Screen your tenant more sufficiently

Inside building review
Former Tenant
Pros:
The building has nice and big rooms. It all depends on which side of the building you live.
Cons:
Management does care about the working people in the building. Those " community people are selling drugs in the building and bring the men from inside of the building to buy drugs
Advice to owner:
This building has alot of traffic in the building. Alot if violence. Take more consideration of the city worker's that live in the building that have issue in this building
