Everything I’ve lived at 126 West 83rd Street long enough to witness repeated and serious failures by both Shinda Management and St. Matthew & St. Timothy’s leadership. Safety in the building has been an ongoing concern, compounded by poor communication, lack of transparency, and questionable hiring practices. Tenants have raised repeated concerns about unresolved hazardous conditions, broken front door locks, recurring maintenance issues, and residents feeling unsafe due to both building conditions and the conduct of certain staff members. There have been troubling patterns of secretive tenant placements, inadequate vetting, and a lack of accountability when problems arise. Communication from management is minimal, and responses to tenant concerns are often delayed or dismissive. Several residents, including vulnerable seniors and families, have reported feeling intimidated or targeted after raising issues.
