Review Summary for 1590 Lexington LLC
Summarized from anonymous rental reviews on openigloo.
Recent tenant feedback for 1590 LEXINGTON LLC reveals a mixed management experience. While some praise the building’s cleanliness, package room security, and quiet environment, many highlight persistent issues such as slow or unresponsive management, problematic pest control including cockroaches and wasps, and unresolved maintenance problems like roof leaks causing mold. Garbage management and heating systems are also frequently criticized. Frequent staff turnover and delayed deposit returns add to tenant frustration. Despite attractive renovations in some units, inconsistent upkeep and security concerns diminish overall satisfaction. Prospective renters should be cautious and advocate strongly for prompt management responsiveness.

Don’t live here
Former Tenant
Pros:
The location is nice and in unit washer dryer is convenient
Cons:
I strongly advise against renting at 1590 Lexington or any property managed by Centennial Properties. Since moving in less than a year ago, it’s been a nightmare. Maintenance requests are rarely addressed in a timely manner—if at all—and many of the appliances are outdated or outright broken. Despite this, rent is priced at market rate, which is completely unjustifiable given the conditions.

The building has serious pest issues, including flies, cockroaches, and other insects. There are also wasps on the roof, which significantly detracts from what should be a perk of having roof access.

Packages are stolen regularly, unauthorized people frequently gain access to the building, and none of the security cameras actually work.

To make matters worse, the property management company is often behind on essential bills, putting tenants at risk of power outages. In under a year, four building managers have quit after only a month on the job, and the original super also left. The new super is unresponsive and nearly impossible to reach.

This is not a safe, well-managed, or well-maintained place to live. It’s certainly not worth the cost, and I would not recommend it to anyone.

Bad Management, Strange Renovations
Former Tenant
Pros:
Building is quite clean generally, the door locks, there is a package room with a code access.
Cons:
Management is unresponsive and has had 3 different building managers in the last year. They put the trash out for collection very early in front of the building in bags and smells terrible. The apartments are renovated in a strange way: the rooms are very small and the kitchen is the entry hallway. There is also a tenant in the building that is a hoarder whose unit smells terrible, they often bring garbage into the building.

Solid Building Management At The Time Wasn’t The Best
Former Tenant
Pros:
The building was solid. Trash is well managed. The super we had was great and responsive. Never had any major issues.
Cons:
Management took about six months to get us our deposit back.
They never responded to any of our emails except for when it came to us renewing.
You have to withhold rent to have anything done by them.
This was in 2023 case management has changed

6th floor apt = never ending nightmare
Former Tenant
Pros:
The renovated apartments are attractive. The bathroom in my unit is spacious and bright. There is a package room with a lock. The neighbors that I have met are friendly and nice. I only had one package stolen, ever (and it might have just gotten lost). The super is responsive about non-serious (ahem non-expensive) issues, which are quickly repaired. He is clearly trying his best and is very competent with minor repairs.
Cons:
Living on the 6th floor of this building has been a never-ending nightmare due to incessant roof leaks, water infiltration, and mold. The roof needs major maintenance but it is clear that the landlord only intends to do little quick fixes that do not address the underlying issues. Water has been coming through the ceiling in multiple locations in my apt, water runs down the walls, falling plaster, mold, etc. My experience has been: 1) i complain about roof leaks 2) management acknowledges but delays repairs as long as possible 3) management makes a minor repair OR lies about having done so 4) roof continues to leak 5) I involve HPD 6) landlord makes quick & ineffective fix in response to complaint 7) roof leaks again … and repeat. I have heard that multiple neighbors have had the exact same experience going back YEARS so this is clearly a pattern. I can’t speak for the lower floor apartments - they may well be perfectly fine - but avoid the 6th floor units! Do not fall for those cute little roof decks - they charge you a ton of extra money for them but they are so poorly constructed they are likely the source of the leaks. Also, management frequently moves them to do their fake repairs so you may not get to use them anyway.
Advice to owner:
Fix the roof

Nice features, prices, so-so neighbors
Former Tenant
Pros:
My unit was fully renovated and has nice features and amenities, which were great. They keep the hallways pretty clean and the garbage/recycling area has improved from when I first moved in. The super and management aren't always very responsive but with some nagging they'll get things done.
Cons:
Not all the building units have been renovated and some seem to be long term rent control units with lifelong residents who can be...quirky. Some younger, partying types seemed to have moved in and can be loud as well. The heat is overwhelming sometimes and the hot water can be scalding hot. The finishes are nice but the quality isn't always top notch. Feels like it was rushed to look good to fill units but not long term.
Advice to owner:
Pay attention to residents requests to keep the building in good condition.

There are worse but can be better
Former Tenant
Pros:
Washer dryer dishwasher in units. Well insulated walls. Nice neighbors. Relatively quiet.
Cons:
Was cleaner and well maintained. Someone dumped milk into the recycling bin so the guy in charge of cleanliness quit. Management since hired someone new and it hasn’t been as well maintained as before. Seasonal small cockroaches, possibly due to restaurant downstairs. No rats though. Inconsistent heating during winter. Slow maintenance response time. Apartment management company absolutely the worst at responding. Spotty sunlight depending on unit.
Advice to owner:
Hire a new management company.
