Review Summary for Ditmas Management Corp.
Summarized from anonymous rental reviews on openigloo.
Recent tenant feedback for buildings managed by DITMAS MANAGEMENT CORP. reveals a mix of experiences. While many appreciate the spacious apartments, good locations, and friendly neighbors, management responsiveness is frequently criticized as slow or unhelpful. Maintenance issues, particularly heating irregularities, pest infestations, and building cleanliness, are common concerns. Supers receive mixed reviews, with some tenants praising responsive staff and others highlighting rudeness or poor upkeep. Rent increases and noise disturbances also appear as recurring issues. Overall, potential renters should expect characterful apartments with management that could improve in communication, maintenance efficiency, and pest control efforts.

Worth the space
Former Tenant
Pros:
Apartments are big! Prewar and have so much character.
Cons:
Management fixes things in a terrible way and MAJOR boiler issues. Water is often brown in bathroom and must let run before coming clear. New super is eh- and some neighbors are rowdy.
Advice to owner:
More experienced super, change the boiler asap. Rent too high.

Pretty great Pre-war
Former Tenant
Pros:
The super is great, comes pretty quickly to address issues.
Cons:
Elevator is slow, and not being able to move in via the front is counterproductive

4 year resident
Former Tenant
Pros:
Like the place. Spacious, nice location by the park.
Cons:
Too hot during winter and you cannot control the heat. No ac unit in the apartment so you need to install yourself. Occasional rodent issues but the building sends exterminators every month.

Great Location; Mediocre Building
Former Tenant
Pros:
It's a safe place to live. People generally keep to themselves. Somewhat friendly.
Cons:
The noise level emananating from some neighbors can be absurdly loud on weekends, and sometimes, on weeknights. Some neighbors do not observe recycling, creating a potential for pests, which we have in the summer (waterbugs, and HUGE roaches). Some apartments have centipedes.
Advice to owner:
Take a stand on complaints from tenants rather than telling them they're free to break their lease. Check in on the status of recycling, not just from the Superintendant, but by being present to oversee progress or lack thereof.

Good no thrills building but floors stop no sound
Former Tenant
Pros:
Super keeps building and sidewalk clean, nice people
Cons:
The floors are so incredibly bad at preventing noise from above. When people come over, they say they’ve never heard anything like this
Street noise is very loud, even in back facing apartments. It’s all concrete behind the building I think the honks echo through there, never had this issue in other UES apts
Advice to owner:
Enforce rugs as mentioned in lease

Old and terrible
Former Tenant
Pros:
It was cheap
Cons:
Useless super who would force you to wait significant time for the simplest things then not show, floors were warped, building had wiring problems.

Standard prewar building, good spot
Former Tenant
Pros:
Good management
Responsive/no large maintenance issues
Lived here 2yr
Cons:
Bit overpriced but thats just HK in general
Older building so you get what comes with that (older build, less energy efficiency, etc...)

A nice quiet home
Former Tenant
Pros:
Love how family friendly this building is and that the units are larger than average. Super is very responsive & even helped install my AC
Cons:
They will jack up the rent as high as possible after 1 year so be ready for it. They don’t offer 2 year leases
Advice to owner:
Offer two year leases
Jacked up our rent, nice building though
Former Tenant
Pros:
- Super and staff are great
- Clean
- Quiet
Cons:
- Jacked up our rent 10% (along with the rest of the building) resulting in multiple tenants moving out, killing the building's community
Advice to owner:
Keep rent increases reasonable
Not great, not the worst
Former Tenant
Pros:
Great location, not too many units, good neighbors, and units themselves are quite good size and amenities for a smaller building.
Cons:
Poor management. They only respond quickly when it comes to rent payment and negotiation, otherwise they’ll drag their feet and nickel and dime you for things the user should be taking care of. Super is not great. Had a sad life but no need to be such a dick all the time and he can’t do much fixing around the buildings, let alone climb the stairs.
Advice to owner:
Be better

Nice, quiet building
Former Tenant
Pros:
Friendly management, fresh flowers every week
Cons:
Periodical elevator maintenance
Mixed Bag but Good Deal
Former Tenant
Pros:
On Shore Rd near entrance to Shore Road Park and Greenway. Large apartments with full-size soaking tubs, lots of closet space. Very reasonably priced
Cons:
Unresponsive super
Poorly maintained laundry facilities
Out of date appliances (oven had no display/oven window)
Roach infested
Former Tenant
Pros:
Affordable rent is NOT worth the roach infestation here. Building is crawling with them and soon your apartment will be too. Sad bc this building is on a nice street in excellent location.
Cons:
Roaches and thin walls. When the pests aren’t causing me to spiral, my upstairs neighbor’s noise is.
Advice to owner:
This building needs to be completely fumigated for roaches
Over 1 year ago
Overall nice building but VERY thing floors
Former Tenant
Pros:
Nice community, generally quiet
Cons:
The floors are paper thin. I can hear everything my upstairs neighbors does, every step, their TV, even when they open a dresser drawer
Over 1 year ago
Good building bad in house management
Former Tenant
Pros:
Units are great the tenants are awesome and the building common areas are usually very clean
Cons:
the intercom system is almost nonexistent, building super absolutely does not answer the phone/ is not a huge help and is not very nice, and package management is so poor you can almost expect packages to get stolen, even though all are delivered inside the building in the lobby.
Advice to owner:
get better supers, replace the intercom system, incorporate a better package system
Over 1 year ago
Old but had character
Former Tenant
Pros:
The location, the rent was cheap, the elevator worked most of the time.
Cons:
The apartment could definitely use some TLC, though it looks like they've made a ton of repairs since i lived there.

Great building in a great location
Former Tenant
Pros:
Responsive management, beautiful street in park slope near the park
Cons:
Rodent problem we had to resolve on our own

Perfect family building
Former Tenant
Pros:
The doormen and super are fantastic. The apartments are big and great for growing families.
Cons:
The heating….. soooo hot!
