Summarized from anonymous rental reviews on openigloo.
Recent renter reviews for buildings managed by CUMBERLAND APARTMENTS L.P. reveal a mixed experience. Tenants appreciate the convenient locations and commend the building superintendent Pedro for his friendliness and responsiveness. However, persistent issues with roach infestations, inconsistent maintenance, and poor owner responsiveness are common concerns. Repairs often face delays, and some renters report unaddressed noise problems and problematic neighbors. Garbage management is generally praised, but water pressure and heating quality vary. Many tenants urge management to improve communication, pest control, and tenant respect. Overall, while the buildings offer good locations and a caring super, management responsiveness and maintenance upkeep require significant improvement.

Kafkaesque room with a view
Former Tenant
Pros:
Unparalleled Location w/ Elevator that mostly works Immensely kind, responsive super Big windows
Cons:
Let me just put it this way. My refrigerator broke and it took them 4 months to replace it...with a model that was too wide to sit flush against the wall, taking up a ton of space. That was in February, and now it's fall. When I call maintenance it goes to voicemail, which is pretty standard for the three years I've lived in this place. Other neighbors have had similar problems getting repairs done in a timely manner.
Oh yeah, and the oft-discussed roaches. The best you can do is to set down some of those gel traps and use the exterminator services each month, regardless if you see a bug or not. You will almost DEFINITELY see bugs; it's just a question of whether it's a daily jumpscare or monthly/seasonally if you're lucky.
Advice to owner:
Treat tenants like people and give Pedro a gd raise!!!

Place is a dump
Former Tenant
Pros:
Zero. Its cheap i guess.

This is the worst run building ive ever lived in in 40 years of life. Pests, unresponsive management group, shady billing practices, runaway YOY rental increases. Stay away.

Good location, thieving management
Former Tenant
Pros:
- great location - Pedro is a very helpful super - building is kept in decent shape
Cons:
- frequent issues, including bugs and leaks - the management stole my security deposit without any explanation or response - my attempts to move to a 1BR within the building were ignored, so I left
Advice to owner:
treat your tenants with dignity

Building Super - Pedro - is a Star
Former Tenant
Pros:
Pedro, the building super is responsive, and friendly. Plus, he decorates for Christmas! Good water pressure.
Cons:
Multiple break-ins to package room but problem has been fixed for last ~year. A few roaches while living on the first floor. An exterminator comes once a month for free which many people utilize. Dark units!
Roach infestation that goes unmitigated. Monthly sprays were not enough.

I have PTSD from living here
Former Tenant
Pros:
The super is amazing (if he’s still there). Great location. Spacious units. Laundry in building.
Cons:
Plumbing not great: toilet was really sensitive and always clogged. Kitchen sink overfilled with other peoples dishwater. Regular critters. Fire alarm went off a lot. Worst of all, I had the neighbor from hell. Absolute psychopath. Would pound on my wall for exercising or cooking at 6pm (yes, I chop onions too loud), then wound blare music so loud I could feel bass in my floor until 4am and started again at 9am. Threatened the woman above me. Cops were call over a dozen times. Was scared to be home; he was a big dude and I didn’t know what he was capable of. Owner did nothing despite constant complaints. I couldn’t get out of my lease even though it was unlivable at that point. Had to pay out the rest of my lease, but had to get out. He’s lived there for years so wouldn’t be surprised if he still is.
Advice to owner:
Just do better. Jeeez.
