Review Summary for 59 Bogart Owner, LLC
Summarized from anonymous rental reviews on openigloo.
Recent tenant feedback for buildings managed by 59 BOGART OWNER, LLC reveals significant challenges in management responsiveness and maintenance. While the buildings offer spacious loft-style apartments and a vibrant neighborhood with friendly neighbors, tenants consistently report issues including poor cleanliness, pest infestations, chronic heating failures leading to high electric bills, and persistent package theft. Despite some appreciation for an attentive super, the owner is generally seen as inattentive to urgent repairs and tenant concerns. Noise levels and security systems also appear problematic. Prospective renters should expect management that struggles with upkeep and responsiveness, resulting in a living experience often overshadowed by unresolved maintenance and safety issues.

Fun when you are 21 and then like living in squalor
Former Tenant
Pros:
The building is cool, neighbors are nice, neighborhood is great
Cons:
Mice, roaches, heating cost hundreds of dollars and sometimes does not work. Was left without water for 5 days once because management didn’t answer . When I left everything was covered in a layer of dirt and mold.
Advice to owner:
Fix the over all issues before raising rent

Don’t expect the owner to ever give a shit about you but the super is amazing
Former Tenant
Pros:
The super is sooo helpful
The water pressure is good
Good pest control
Easy access to train
Rooftop
And allow pets
Cons:
Neighbors are predominantly privileged annoying unaware young 20s. They trash the place always throw parties and just generally not respectful to the place they live in.
In some units, not all, the heat is almost nonexistent. Your electric bill will be 600$ and more to adequately heat your apartment beware.
The owner and management are the worst types of landlords. They don’t give a shit about you.
Advice to owner:
Be better people. You don’t have to be that greedy.

Okay for young hipsters
Former Tenant
Pros:
Lofted ceilings provide open space
Our unit had a washer dryer
Building super was quick to respond via text
Cons:
Heating and electricity was terrible. All heat runs on electricity which causes the ConEd bill to skyrocket. The windows let in so much draft in the winter it’s almost unbearable without a portable heater. Summers weren’t as bad after buying my own window AC unit.

Walls can be thin too if you have noises neighbors

Bare Minimum Company
Former Tenant
Pros:
Proactive with extermination
Building is clean
Cons:
Take up to a week to respond even with emergencies
Building has rat infestation
Falsely advertised having a working elevator
Heater is broken and causes huge surcharge in electric bill
Major package theft problem, claims to have security cameras but they don’t work
Expensive to do laundry and half the time the washers/dryers don’t work

Mold is the norm
Former Tenant
Pros:
size, location, appliances are all good. high ceilings
Cons:
in my bedroom, the area around my windows and the ceiling is consistently wet, sometimes to where the ceiling drips on the bed/furniture. this is a problem in itself (which management did not fix when notified), but leads to the hazardous problem of mold. the high ceilings make it impossible to clean, and mold seems to be a consistent problem in the building
Advice to owner:
get new windows

A Fun Loft
Former Tenant
Pros:
- Huge Space, looks great on instagram
- In unit W/D that works well
- Convenient subway access
- Free bike storage
- Massive roof
Cons:
- Very expensive utilities for our 3BR. ~300 / month
- No noise insulation when dividing a larger loft with fake walls
- Temperature not consistent - very cold and hot with the seasons
- Many pest issues throughout the building (did not affect us)
- Lots of package theft when we lived there
Advice to owner:
- Needs a new package system
- Pest control needs work

fine if you can get an open studio
Former Tenant
Pros:
there are a few open lofts left which have not been turned into sad 3 bedroom units
Cons:
very negligent management. moved in and there was literal shit plastered all over the bathroom, which i had to clean myself. hot water didn't work on move in during winter and they dragged their feet in diagnosis. black mold all over one wall (maybe 20 sq ft) at move in. heater broken at move in, which has not been fixed for nearly two years despite repeated notices and attempts. heating my apartment with the space heaters they have costs nearly $2k/month in electric during winter.

package theft is horrible, no mail room and about 50% of packages get stolen even if you check the mail pretty promptly

This Place Sucks
Former Tenant
Pros:
Loft style living - lots of space.
Cons:
Unresponsive management. None of the amenities on the website are real. Broken, ineffective buzzer. Packages constantly stolen. Laundry room is filthy and machines are barely usable with their “app”. We had a leak in our ceiling that took 2 years to fix (they did nothing until we reported it to the city, twice). Roof is trashed. Building is filthy. Full of 22 yr olds who want to pretend they’re living in the McKibbin lofts in 2006.
Advice to owner:
Get a real buzzer system so people stop letting thieves into the building. Fix the roof and enforce some rules so the adults who pay to live here can use it. Make a secure package room so tenants can actual receive things they pay for.
