Review summary

Summarized from anonymous rental reviews on Openigloo.

Tenants of Jerry Zakowicz's buildings often commend the properties for cleanliness, safety, and attentive doormen, contributing to a welcoming environment. Management generally responds well to maintenance needs, and amenities like gyms and package rooms are appreciated. However, recurring issues include noise from the street and heating systems, occasional elevator outages, and pest problems that sometimes require persistent tenant follow-up. Some renters note building aging and infrastructure concerns such as scaffolding and water outages. Despite these drawbacks, the management is seen as accessible and generally effective, making the buildings a viable choice for many seeking a balance of convenience and service in Manhattan.

Pros

I loved this building. Clean, great apt for the price (at least then), roof access that was typically empty. Great rent back then

Cons

My biggest problem- one specific doorman. There’s security about asking what unit someone is visiting and/or noise complaints and then there is harassing your friends when they enter and leave

Advice to the owners

I wish I notified management about this behavior the moment this doorman questioned why my roommate had a visitor… dogsitting.

Loved living here

Pros

You get an incredible building for decently affordable prices, especially for those living with roommates. The doormen and staff in the building are so wonderful - I’m extremely sad to leave.

Cons

Third Avenue and 33rd can be a bit dangerous and loud, so if you’re on a low floor, expect that commotion. Elevators have gone through many ups and downs of repairs and being out of service.
