Review summary

Summarized from anonymous rental reviews on Openigloo.

Tenant reviews for buildings managed by Moshe Silberstein depict a mixed experience. Cleanliness and garbage management are generally well-rated, but heat and owner responsiveness receive significant criticism. Many tenants report issues with heating costs, particularly with electric heating systems, and slow response to maintenance requests. Neighbors are generally regarded as friendly, yet noise issues can be prevalent due to thin walls and nearby street activity. Some have highlighted concerns over pest management and inadequate building upkeep. Overall, while some residents appreciate the location and amenities, there are notable deficiencies in management and maintenance that prospective renters should consider.

Not that bad tbh

Pros

Running the ACs in the summer is super cheap, neighbors are all nice and considerate, laundry in basement, close to the L and the J, there's a grocery store around the corner on Broadway, never had any issues where we needed to call maintenance, they're good about trash, the roof is nice to lay out on in the summer, never had any packages stolen, whole thing was honestly pretty chill for the most part

Cons

Its electric heat instead of gas and those ConEd bills in the winter are insaneeeee if you want your unit to actually be warm, we kept our apartment's temp at 60-65 all winter and our bill was still hundreds, walls are very thin so you can hear genuinely everything that happens in the unit next to yours (like you can hear their conversations word for word), Bushwick Ave is a pretty noisy and busy street so there's lots of noise in the front rooms, laundry machine does break sometimes, there's a rooftop bar facing the backside of the building that has lots of late night events in the summer that get kind of loud

Advice to the owners

Get heated blankets and insulate your windows in the winter. If you have backyard access and want to make it look nice, the bamboo has taken over and is useless to try and get rid of so it's not worth it. Management is weird but we never really needed them.

Pros

Location to train and natural light

Cons

Management refuses to maintain individual unit needs - mold present in bathroom and hot water consistently stops working in shower.

Advice to the owners

Better advise tenants, and take responsibility for prospective tenant tours since there is no desire to assist in the hosting and accommodating process. This extends past the capabilities of tenants given volume and touring schedules aligning almost directly with working hours.
