Review Summary for Moshe Silberstein
Summarized from anonymous rental reviews on openigloo.
Tenants of Moshe Silberstein's buildings appreciate the generally convenient locations, some with good amenities like in-unit washers/dryers, balconies, and rooftop access. Responsive management is noted in several buildings, with timely maintenance in some cases. However, there are recurring concerns about unresponsiveness and poor communication from the management, especially related to pest control issues, security deposit disputes, and building upkeep. Cleanliness and garbage management are uneven across properties, with some tenants reporting mold, roach infestations, and unclean common areas. Rent prices are frequently described as high, sometimes with illegal overcharges. Noise levels and problematic neighbors also affect tenant satisfaction in certain buildings.

No problems, decent company
Former Tenant
Pros:
They've always been quick to respond to requests. Some rat problems on the first floor units unfortunately.
Cons:
They were slow to cover up vandalism on the hallway walls

Good place to live but way overpriced
Former Tenant
Pros:
Good amenities - dishwasher, washer dryer, balcony, central air and heat, shared courtyard accessible to all 3 buildings under this management (18, 20, and 22).
Small building, only 2 apartments per floor.
Quiet building for the most part, balconies and windows are adequately soundproofed (not perfectly quiet, but very good).
Never personally had any pest issues in my unit.
Generally responsive management/supers, but they will try to keep your deposit and you will have to threaten them with legal action to get it back.
Cons:
Apartments are extremely overpriced for what they are and rent increases are steep (they will charge you the max legally allowed). When I moved out of my $2500 2br in 2024, they raised the rent to $3200 for the next tenant.
Dated interiors, janky paint jobs inside.
Narrow staircases and hallways make moving in and out a pain, and they do not sweep the staircases—always dust and cobwebs in the corners.
Enormous bathtub, but it’s plastic and super creaky.
Can’t sit on the stoop because the trash is gathered by the stairs and there’s a lot of flies.
Advice to owner:
Stop overcharging and being greedy, or at least modernize the interiors if you’re going to be charging so much. Stop doing illegal shit when your tenants move out.

Nice natural light & windows, great AC/heat units, close to train
Cons:
Noisy area (though that’s just Bushwick)

Terrible Management Company
Former Tenant
Pros:
The building was fine and our neighbors were amazing.
Cons:
This management company illegally withheld $300 from my security deposit upon moving out. After several weeks of asking for my security deposit, they finally sent it $300 short. I was in contact with them for about two weeks before they completely ghosted me. Today (10/29/2024) marks 59 days since I moved out, and 19 days since I've been able to talk to anyone from Domes Management. DO NOT RENT AN APARTMENT FROM DOMES MANAGEMENT INC! THEY ARE SHADY AND UNRESPONSIVE AND WILL STEAL YOUR SECURITY DEPOSIT!
Advice to owner:
Get a new property management company. One that does not completely ignore their tenants and steals their security deposit.

Decent building close to subway
Former Tenant
Pros:
Close to subway station

Fairly quick responses to maintenance
Online portal for submitting maintenance requests and paying rent
Cons:
Sometimes you have to follow up with maintenance for them to get past the initial phone call/visit and actually solve the problem
Area sometimes felt unsafe
Not close to many restaurants/bars

No big complaints!
Former Tenant
Pros:

Cons:

Poor management, bad neighbors, good location
Former Tenant
Pros:
The units themselves are decent (updated kitchen and bathroom appliances, decent square footage) and the building is in a convenient location. Easy access to the L.
Cons:
There was a major leak in the building and management has yet to do anything about the water damage and subsequent mold. It would be hard to fix the building without tearing many of the walls down, but the mold could at least be treated. Unfortunately, there are extremely messy tenants which results in dirt and debris constantly being in the stairwell. The super cleans once a month, but it is otherwise filthy and smelly. There have also been pest issues since certain tenants moved in (they were not present before). Pest management comes to treat the units but is not very thorough. It's difficult to treat the root of the issue when it's caused by specific tenants. It can be loud at times in the building but it's rare to find an NYC apartment that doesn't have thin walls. There is a group of 12 living in a 2-3 bedroom apartment, this is a safety hazard. They also leave scooters, coolers, fruit, etc. in the lobby consistently.

this was the best out of a mediocre lot of apartments I’ve lived i
Former Tenant
Pros:
Central air, massive bath tub, little balcony, pretty quiet, in unit washer dryer, dishwasher
Cons:
Cannot have packages delivered here. They will get stolen. 2 bedroom is not a true 2 bedroom. The second small room is tiny AF and the closet is a joke.
Advice to owner:
Add a space to have packagers delivered safely

Infested with mold
Former Tenant
Pros:
None they are terrible humans.
Cons:
They rented their space to a whole youth program and community space knowing they had a big mold issue. We continued paying rent and they ignored all of our request. It made people sick so all of our members left and it destroyed our business model and program. When we started fighting back the owners became aggressive, started recording us In our space and installed cameras leading directly into our space.
Advice to owner:
Be better humans

Lovely but needs work
Former Tenant
Pros:
The maintenance man did a great job at upkeeping the building, and it was mostly very clean. I felt safe and welcomed in the building.
Cons:
- The management raises rents tremendously to the point they’re pushing out good tenants. -Management takes a long time to answer emails especially about repairs or concerns. It’s best to get someone’s number to speak directly.
Advice to owner:
Value your tenants and don’t just look at them as dollar signs. Take accountability for your wrong doings. Make sure all apartments are cleaned and there are no past due bills. A new apartment it is a fresh start for tenants and we don’t need the additional stress.

Bad Experience
Former Tenant
Pros:
Great location in Bushwick
Cons:
Management was unhelpful with a situation that led to us leaving the space
The issue was with a former occupant
Advice to owner:
I would have appreciated more help.

The management of this 8 unit building is completely UNRESPONSIVE!
Former Tenant
Pros:
Nothing! The rooms were incredibly small, RATS all over the front and back of building. People were somewhat freiendly.
Cons:
EVERYTHING! Roof parties untill all hours in violation of Fire Departmrnt safety laws. Prolific drug selling and USE within the building and RATS ALL OVER THE FRONT, THE BACK YARD AND IN THE BASEMENT STORAGE AREAS!
Advice to owner:
They need a FULL TIME manager onsite to deal with ALL these issues!

Small Harlem space with a nice roof
Former Tenant
Pros:
We love the rooftop, the landlords and management are very hands off which is nice, and the building is super conveniently located right off the ABCD trains.
Cons:
The rooms are weirdly shaped -- none of the walls are even. The living space is small and has very poor lighting (the pictures on the listing are very deceiving).
Advice to owner:
The building received SO many tickets for garbage. It wasn't the tenants doing, but usually folks in the neighborhood. I don't know how to prevent this, but having a live-in super might help.

Unresponsive management to pests
Former Tenant
Pros:
Updated kitchen and bathroom
Cons:
Pests, neighbors leave coolers and scooters in small lobby, dirty lobby, noise levels outside, neighbors all very loud, thin walls
Advice to owner:
Be responsive when your tenant cites pest issues, don’t rent a 2 bedroom apartment to a family of 8
