Review Summary for 70 Wyckoff Ave LLC
Summarized from anonymous rental reviews on openigloo.
Recent reviews of buildings managed by 70 Wyckoff Ave LLC reveal a mixed experience with management. Tenants appreciate the strong community, spacious loft-style apartments, good neighbors, and responsive maintenance staff. However, management has been criticized for poor communication, lack of transparency, and frequent, steep rent increases—sometimes during challenging times like the pandemic. Garbage and cleanliness issues persist, with concerns about recycling and pest control. Some tenants note unfulfilled promises (like roof access) and ineffective building upkeep. Overall, the management seems attentive at times but often prioritizes revenue over tenant retention and building investment, causing frustration among long-term residents.

Loved my home till I was kicked out
Former Tenant
Pros:
Amazing neighborhood, building community, and apartment space
Cons:
New ownership is not good at notifying residents when changes are made. We were also not allowed to renew our lease. After 4 years of always paying on time and keeping the apartment in top shape we were not allowed to renew our lease. They only told us the landlord did not want to renew us...nothing else. Not covered under good cause eviction due to a refiling of the occupancy report in 2016. Truly loved my life here and am so sad it is coming to an end due to management that does not want to invest in the community already here. Also they promise roof access and maid service but the building is not cleaned on a regular bases and the stairwells lock you inside so you cannot access the roof
Advice to owner:
Allow tenants with good standing to be allowed to stay in the building

Great building, location, neighbor, community, but new ownership is concerning.
Former Tenant
Pros:
Authentic loft building (former textile factory) with good unit layouts, really great tenant community (especially for young families with kids), courtyard with garden, new laundry machines.
Cons:
Trash/recycling management isn’t great, the building common areas aren’t kept clean unless complaints are made, and vehicles are being parked in the courtyard. Most significantly, some tenants’ rent is being increased substantially and leases aren’t being renewed for unknown reasons.
Advice to owner:
Provide more clarity and transparency to tenants, with notice BEFORE changes are made. Work harder to retain good tenants than seek higher-paying ones. Invest in the community that is already here, and it will pay off.

Love this building, management does their best
Former Tenant
Pros:
The neighbors are great, elevator always works, with very little downtime for maitenance. Management is prompt.
Cons:
Management seems a little inept sometimes, but I think they’re trying their best to make improvements. Building has thin walls, squeaky floor on some units, some neighbors complain about sound.
Advice to owner:
Keep doing what you’re doing

Ok place to live
Former Tenant
Pros:
Tenants were able to get it stabilized following owner's violation of the loft board rules
Cons:
Since getting stabilized owner tries to get revenge at tenants and changed to a terrible management company
Advice to owner:
Going against your tenants is only going to hurt you in the long run

Great place to live
Former Tenant
Pros:
Safe and clean building. The supers are always attentive. The apartments are big and things are well maintained.
Cons:
I don’t really like the neighborhood and the color of the walls in the building are really cheesy.

Beware of landlord
Former Tenant
Pros:
Great neighbors, nice high ceilings, decent location
Cons:
The landlord has raised rents by as much as 10% during the pandemic!! No recycling is set up here, mold in bathroom.
Advice to owner:
Stop raising the rent on people when citywide rental rates have fallen and people are out of work or have reduced hours.

Money hungry landlord
Former Tenant
Pros:
Loft style units with lots of windows. Good neighbors in building. Super is very responsive.
Cons:
Right next to key foods recycling center and there are constantly trucks backing in to recycle at all hours of the day evening which is very loud. Landlord raises the rent EVERY year(including during COVID with 1of 3 New Yorkers unemployed) by 4-15%. Building does not recycle. “Updates” were not done well. Building needs work.
Advice to owner:
Stop raising the rent. Start recycling. Repaint the walls neutral colors. Fix floors and windows. Add trash receptacles to each floor.

Rent vulture
Former Tenant
Pros:
Pet friendly building
High ceilings
Cons:
Rent increases as high as 10% or more during COVID.
Violates state lease renewal laws for rent increases at 5% and higher.
Trash piles up in bins in building back without regards to recycling. Trash shoots are locked.
Several apartments reporting mold especially in bathrooms.
Invasive hallway security cameras allowing them to see who enters your apt and hear conversations.
Doesn’t regularly replace smoke detector batteries resulting in battery low alarms going off late at night and on weekends.
Refuses to allow internet service providers to upgrade to fiber resulting in less than optimal internet service. This despite the fact that Verizon notified tenants they’re ending copper landline phone service.
Advice to owner:
Rent reductions and rent freezes especially during COVID.
