Review summary

Summarized from anonymous rental reviews on Openigloo.

Tenants renting from MARK SCHARFMAN experience a mix of positives and challenges across his buildings. Apartments often feature spacious floor plans and desirable neighborhoods, with friendly neighbors and generally safe environments. However, maintenance and management responsiveness frequently fall short. Common complaints include slow repairs, particularly for heating and plumbing issues, pest problems, aging infrastructure, and difficulties with management communication. Construction noise and safety concerns in some locations also reduce tenant satisfaction. While some praise the superintendents for their efforts, the overall management is viewed as inconsistent and sometimes neglectful, indicating room for improved tenant support and building upkeep.

Spacious apartments for the neighborhood

Pros

The floor plans are generous and the rents are reasonable for the area.

Cons

Apartments are fairly modern, though beginning to show significants signs of wear and tear (major renovation was ~12 years ago). Common spaces, elevator, courtyard, etc. are beginning to be in disrepair. Frequent turn-over with the Super has left conditions worse than ever, including cockroaches. Due to construction next door, the courtyard has been unavailable for use for over a year.
