Review Summary for Ridgewood Realty Group
Summarized from anonymous rental reviews on openigloo.
Reviews of buildings managed by RIDGEWOOD REALTY GROUP reveal a generally responsive and helpful management team, especially regarding maintenance and superintendent accessibility. Tenants appreciate cleanliness, decent garbage management, and good heating. However, there are recurring issues with pest infestations, package theft due to inadequate security, and some dated or poorly maintained infrastructure. Noise insulation and ventilation in certain buildings require improvement. While management often addresses complaints, some tenants report slow or incomplete resolutions and frustrations over move-in readiness. Overall, renters can expect a reasonably managed property with proactive staff, but should be mindful of occasional pest problems and security vulnerabilities.

great location, no major issues
Former Tenant
Pros:
The super is great and very responsive with little issues that have popped up. Walls are fairly thick and it's nice to be so close to the train.
Cons:
sometimes the trash area gets messy and the floor is on a bit of a slant so things don't always cook evenly on the stovetop. seen two american cockroaches months apart - never turned into an infestation so likely weather related.

Above average NYC apartment - free laundry
Former Tenant
Pros:
AMAZING LOCATION
respectful neighbors(never had an issue with stealing packages or noise)
responsive superintendent
FREE in building laundry
Cons:
Extremely poor ventilation there was mold due to lack of vents in bathroom.
Advice to owner:
better ventilation in the building

Bright Spot, Great Super
Former Tenant
Pros:
The super is prompt, kind, and very handy. Never had a better one!
Tenant groupchat for any issues that arise
Washer/dryer has no issues. Dishwasher works great too.
Gut renovated in last 4 years.
Lots of natural light on R side
Big Closets.
Cons:
One-way street with a bus and lots of double parking, expect periods of honking.
Windows aren't well installed - noise and draft gets through.
Packages are sometimes stolen - front door is not the most secure.
Steep rent price for area, compounded by electric heating and poor envelope (coned bills are high)
Roof access technically not allowed
Some units have significant flooding/roof leaks during storms. Check for water damage.
Advice to owner:
Add more security to front door

Cons:

Always trust your gut
Former Tenant
Pros:
Location, garbage maintenance
Cons:
Be careful having packages delivered if it's good someone will steal them. Someone stole my ac and if you wonder how is it possible to steal a huge box it was done, the main building door does not lock and there's no cameras. The building has tons of roaches I've been there less then a month the exterminator came 5 times and still roaches it's obvious the building has a larger infestation they won't deal with, and I was promised things would be fixed before move in and they weren't. Roaches are still a big issue and when terminating the lease the landlord called to threaten me not to tell people about the roaches as it would be in "my best interest". Best advice stay away or have your mail go somewhere else.
Advice to owner:
Take care of your property, fix things before tricking tenants after move in and actually take care of the pest issue.

Tenant at the apartment
Former Tenant
Pros:
Good location and good price
Cons:
AC ended up not working in December, they had to install window AC. Which costs twice more on electricity.

Slow to respond to issues at the apartment

Lots of problems upon move-in
Former Tenant
Pros:
The management company is very responsive about complaints and issues. Spacious apartment.
Cons:
Upkeep of building is terrible. Our apartment was not ready upon move in. The last tenant didn’t clean and the management company did not have anyone clean the apartment before we moved in either. The appliances were old, worn and smaller than normal sized (fridge and oven) and had problems with temperature settings and ice buildup in freezer. There’s a really bad roach infestation and we found 6 large roaches within the first month of moving in, even after an exterminator had come to the unit several times. Someone steals packages all the time and we don’t know if it’s someone in the building or someone from outside because there is no lock to the door to the front of the building so anyone can walk in at anytime. Several other more minor issues popped up such as a hole that has developed in the porch of the building and the management company is very responsive about these issues but it takes a lot of back and forth email exchanges to get anything done, as they will have the super come to fix one thing at a time through multiple appointments. Most of the issues I’ve described above still haven’t been fixed after a month.
Advice to owner:
Make sure the unit is ready before new tenants move in… actually care about the upkeep of the building.

Good and bad
Former Tenant
Pros:
great super on site who takes all the packages for you and the building itself is kept clean
Cons:
loud noises in hallway and there is no insulation in the ceilings so watch out you WILL hear everything going on. Bedbugs happening as well.
Advice to owner:
Keep your tenants in check, they are disruptive and im sure are stealing packages too, invest in real insulationi
Over 4 years ago
pretty good experience
Former Tenant
Pros:
great friendly neighbors, great roof, liked that they at least tried to control the roaches but they kept coming back. also good landlord, he replaced our “cool” lights with warm ones very quickly upon request
Cons:

Cheap place, crazy landlord
Former Tenant
Pros:
Cheap rent. Good location, tons of space
Cons:
Landlord is always watching and listening to whatever you do. Thin walls. No sink in bathroom. Tiny ass bathroom. Everything is crumbling and old.
Advice to owner:
This place could be great if things could be modernized
