Review summary

Summarized from anonymous rental reviews on Openigloo.

Tenant reviews for CHARLES ALPERT's buildings reveal a mixed management experience. Many buildings offer clean, well-maintained spaces with responsive supers and friendly doormen, contributing positively to residents' satisfaction. Prime locations and decent amenities are appreciated. However, several properties struggle with pest control issues, outdated infrastructure, slow or unresponsive management, and persistent maintenance delays, especially regarding elevators, heat, and noise control. Rent increases and lack of communication or flexibility have also caused frustration. Overall, while some tenants praise on-site staff, the management team often falls short in responsiveness and tenant relations, suggesting room for improvement in communication, maintenance, and tenant care.

Time to Raise The Game

Pros

Doorman building Furnished lobby Large closets Art Deco design details Recently updated interior decor in hallways Great location near Washington Square Park Desirable neighborhood

Cons

Some services eliminated in the past 10 years. Doorman rarely uses intercom to check visitors. Deliveries from local eateries limited to lobby. Rare use of service entrance, 1 service elevator. Erratic elevator service (long waits, floor skipping.) Package room eliminated, packages parked in lobby.

Advice to the owners

Hold doorman accountable for important gate keeping.via intercom. Restore local food deliveries to our apartment doors. Comply with NYS law to consistently make due repairs/replacements and paint jobs. Manage communication professionally. There is little info about building-wide developments.
