Look elsewhere, it’s not as good as it looks

Pros

Laundry in unit, central air that you can control No issues with pests as is common place in other NYC buildings (although was not on the first floor).

Cons

First off the brokers are shady for this building (they use the same one all the time). After I had signed my lease, they continued showing the unit. When asked why they still had the unit listed, they dismissed me as being too worried. They also don’t represent what utilities are covered (Note: you’ll have to pay GAS, which is all your heating expenses). Management is pretty untrustworthy and cheap. On the day of my move in, the elevator mysteriously broke and I had to pay out of pocket for the moving company for the additional work. They’ll drag their feet on repairs, come at hours you’re unavailable, and in some instances make you responsible for dealing with the vendors. Communication from them is typically piss poor with the exception of the property manager trying to tell you how difficult it is to do a repair or how expensive parts. When asking for extra keys, the building took MONTHS, as they were waiting for other tenants to move out. They say there’s a doorman but it’s just someone who does the garbage and is often not there at the door resulting in packagers not being delivered. Also they’re only there on week days. The units themselves are cheaply built, with walls being erected to carve you additional bedrooms. Heat escapes in the winter so combined with the fact that you’re paying for heating gas, it’ll cost close to $200 a month in the winter. You can hear your neighbors, as their doors have huge gaps on the bottom. You can also hear every movement of your upstairs neighbor too so be prepared to hear every bang or dropped item. If your neighbor two floors up plays music loud enough, you’ll hear that too. The building itself is poorly maintain. They obviously don’t clean the elevator or the hallways. They may paint the hallways sometimes but that’s it.
