Review Summary for Moshe Neiman
Summarized from anonymous rental reviews on openigloo.
Tenant reviews for Moshe Neiman's buildings reveal significant management challenges. Common issues include poor responsiveness to repair requests and slow or withheld security deposit returns, sometimes necessitating legal action. Heating systems are often problematic, with reports of prolonged outages, and pest control is inconsistent. While some buildings maintain decent cleanliness and secure entry, others suffer from noise, package theft, and questionable tenant screening. Management appears stretched thin, with one super overseeing multiple properties, leading to delays in issue resolution. Despite these drawbacks, some tenants appreciate decent locations and neighborly atmospheres but caution prospective renters to expect management inefficiency and a need for vigilance.

Say bye bye to your security deposit
Former Tenant
Pros:
Clean, nice neighbors, in unit laundry and storage
Cons:
Sketchy building management. Refuses to return security deposit, making up excuses.
Advice to owner:
Be normal

horrible landlord, beware
Former Tenant
Pros:
location, central heat/ac
Cons:
the corrupt landlord would refuse to make repairs, drag their feet in even emergency situations (leaks, bugs), and stopped paying their mortgage, went into foreclosure, and then just bought the building back again with a new LLC. they also refuse to return security deposits, there's theft issues from the outside they never helped to address...the list goes on

Had to go to court to get security deposit
Former Tenant
Pros:
Good location and bike storage
Cons:
No windows in what passes for a living room. Shoddily renovated. It took almost a year to get our security deposit back, and we had to go to court to get it. They did not return the full deposit.
Advice to owner:
Follow the law on security deposits

Quiet building and comfortable living situation
Former Tenant
Pros:
Tenants were all respectful. Secure entry into building meant hardly any trouble with packages being stolen. Sizable units. Reliable water pressure and hot water.
Cons:
While air conditioner kicked in warm months it felt like the heater was constantly struggling. Probably needed to be replaced (had serviced 3-4 times over winter) but it kept getting band-aided back together.

nightmare landlord, extremely thin walls, felon living in ba
Former Tenant
Pros:
Very quiet (except the walls are super thin you can hear a whisper)
Clean lobby
Relatively safe
quiet block
Cons:
There was a felon living in the basement that the landlord was illegally subletting the bike space to

Oh also they overcharged us for rent and then kept 300$ of our security deposit just claiming we "forgot" how much we put down

luckier than some in building
Former Tenant
Pros:
- great location
- good light in some bedrooms
- bike room very handy
Cons:
- tenants in other buildings owned by this landlord (moses neuman) have been on rent strike for 2 years due to 3-month loss of heat/hot water during covid-19 — are currently in lawsuit against him
- mgmt has 1 super across 19 buildings in multiple boroughs
- other units had issues with heat loss, black mold
- huge hole behind fridge led to mouse issues, took building a long time to fix
- sound carries a LOT through apartment
- consistent package theft from entryway
Advice to owner:
respond to tenant concerns more quickly
