FLOODS EVERYTIME IT RAINS
Former Tenant
Pros:
new appliances, newly renovated, close to the C train, large windows, never had a problem with rats, the space is large (duplux) in our case.
Cons:
If you're wondering why this great apartment is reasonably priced, it's because everytime it rains, it floods, then it smells like mold and property management refuses to do anything about it. The superintendent shows up with no notice to close out maintenance tickets that he doesn't actually fix. The apartment always has a lot of trash out front. You can hear the neighbors above you (when they're vacuuming/walking loudly/drop something) The winters are god awful--there is no insulation in the building so we set our heat to 69 degrees and our electricity bill was $600. Both roommates work in the office 3-5 days a week and somehow it was $600?! We have Optimum wifi on speed dial because the wifi drops at least once every two days (but there was a point it was dropping 6 times a day and madly interfering with our jobs) When you call Optimum they blamed it on the wiring at first, which they came to fix, but then realized there is not enough electricity flowing in the plugs downstairs to keep it running. Also, there was a point when the electricity box was tripping every day until an electrician came. The outside area is uninhabitable, as you will be eaten by mosquitos. The toilet never stops running and makes an annoying sound of water running 24/7. Sometimes the water randomly releases from the shower 1-2 hours after you're done using it.
Advice to owner:
Overall, this "seemingly beautiful" apartment is not worth the hassle. It will take a full time job to create tickets and communicate with the property managers. The property company, the manager, and the superintendent don't seem to communicate so you'll have to coordinate with 3 separate people on multiple occasions.
