Review summary

Summarized from anonymous rental reviews on Openigloo.

Tenant reviews of ERIC MARGULES's buildings reveal a mixed management reputation. Positive aspects include good locations, quiet neighbors, spacious apartments, and some responsive superintendents. However, many reviews point to significant issues such as pest infestations (rats and roaches), poor cleanliness, malfunctioning heating and hot water systems, frequent maintenance delays, and unsecured or broken locks. Garbage management commonly receives low marks, contributing to pest problems. Management responsiveness is generally seen as slow or unhelpful, with multiple reports of unaddressed repairs and security concerns. Rent increases amid ongoing problems have caused frustration. Prospective renters should expect management struggles but may find community value in certain buildings.

Good apartment for family

Pros

Good space, cleanish, responsive super and nice appliances

Cons

Some pests, and kids playing in lobby.

Former tenant·2 hours ago

Kind of a mess but nice neighbors

Pros

It's on the corner of a relatively quiet neighborhood. The other tenants in the building are nice and respectful, and some have lived here for decades. My apartment is relatively spacious and has relatively new floors. Pet friendly.

Cons

The building is rated "D" for heat efficiency. The elevator has broken down (aka stopped) at least 5 times this year. The lock on the front door of the building continually has mechanical issues and multiple tenants including myself have had keys that get stuck in the lock. In addition there was a period of 2 months when the lock was completely removed, so anyone off the street could just walk into our building. I've had 3 packages stolen from the lobby/mailroom and had to open a P.O. Box at the nearest post office to secure my packages. The roach issue is bad, and although the building has pest control this person won't spray your individual apartment *unless you take initiative and call to set up monthly sprays. This information is not relayed to you and you have to figure it out by yourself.
