Review Summary for Shlome Reifer
Summarized from anonymous rental reviews on openigloo.
Tenants of buildings managed by SHLOME REIFER report mixed experiences with management responsiveness and property upkeep. While some buildings, particularly rent-stabilized and smaller ones, benefit from responsive supers and generally clean common areas, others suffer from persistent issues like pest infestations, poor garbage management, and delayed repairs. Heating and water pressure vary, with several complaints about inadequate heat and water issues. Noise levels and neighbors' behavior can be problematic in certain locations. Many renters feel management often patches problems without long-term solutions, especially regarding plumbing and pest control. Communication with management is sometimes slow or ineffective, impacting tenant satisfaction.

Response but not effective
Former Tenant
Pros:
They are responsive but things get bandaged, not fixed. Lots of natural lighting. Monthly exterminator visit.
Cons:
Plumbing issues. Leaking throughout entire building when there's a heavy rain. Does not invest in long term solutions. Garbage piles up more than any other apartment on the block.
Advice to owner:
Plumbing and mold check ASAP.

- nice small building neighborhood feel
- washer and dryer in unit
- private elevator directly into apartments on floors 2-5
- rent stabilized
- responsive and reliable super
- trash chute on each floor
Cons:

- dont want to leave this building

looks are deceiving
Former Tenant
Pros:
only good thing was the people in the neighborhood are friendly. only ONE of the supers is always outside cleaning and working you can definitely see he cares and puts in a lot of time.
Cons:
units are not clean, there’s is mold in bathroom and kitchen and laundry units, you can hear rats inside the walls all times of the night, the unit itself is updated just really not taken care of by management.
Advice to owner:
i understand it’s nyc but a little tlc can go a long way…

Welcome to the Jungle
Former Tenant
Pros:
Water pressure. Some of the neighbors.
Cons:
Inadequate heat/hot water, roaches, mice, mold, leaks, migrants smoking in the stairwells, sex offenders registered to their "supportive housing program" addresses an not the building, broken front doors, ceiling collapses, broken elevator, uneven floors, 🏍️ 🏍️ s chained to the front stairs. Leaking stairs. Rent overcharges and incompetent rude superintendents who do not speak English and insult people in Spanish.

Slumlord Style Management
Former Tenant
Pros:
Nice super. Clearly overworked however.
Cons:
Constant theft. Rude, ghetto, and unprofessional management. Constant loud noises, wake up to honking every morning because people double park and don’t move their cars in time for people to go to work. Zero pest control. Neighbors smoking and doing drugs in the hallways and stairwells. They are trying to gentrify the building but there are still problems regardless.

My Honest Review
Former Tenant
Pros:
Peter the building manager was a great help in trying to fix it everything our landlord had promised and not delivered on.
Neighbours I encountered were friendly.
The building is in a fantastic location.
Cons:
There are mice in the basement by the garbage on a regular basis.
The landlord promised multiple things and did not deliver.
The landlord and property company were almost impossible to get a hold of and tried to cut corners when moving us in.

Incompetent and frustrating mgt
Former Tenant
Pros:
A few friendly neighbors; our apartment was renovated;
Cons:
Super didn’t speak fluent English; management was almost useless (they had a low energy, sleepy rep for our bldg Mamés Blimey); we asked for over 2 yes to get leak fixed; rat seen running in hallway
Advice to owner:
Be more responsive and hire super that can communicate clearly
