Cinderella living pre-castle
Former Tenant
Pros:
-Spacious studio apartment with lots of storage spaces
Cons:
Building:
-Hallways mopped with bleach almost once a week
-Front door almost never shuts properly, it’s been “fixed” at least once a month
Apartment:
-Mice
-Roaches, so so many roaches
-Neighbors share vents so you can always hear and sometimes smell whatever is happening in other bathrooms
-Tiny “kitchen” with terrible ventilation
-Apartments are not cleaned between tenants
-No super on-site/super never comes building, sends someone else who initially contradicts or blames you for needing maintenance
Advice to owner:
Properly clean units, apply fresh paint and physically inspect apartments for needed attention BEFORE a new tenant moves in

NON RESPONSIVE NON EXISTENT MGMT
Former Tenant
Pros:
exposed brick and decorative fireplace, fairly quiet street considering location. proximity to subways
Cons:
Refused to paint before I moved in, you are not able to speak to your super directly everything goes through your building manager who literally never picks up the phone unless you say your apt is flooding, takes months to fix issues ie leaking kitchen faucet ( unless you say there is a flood in your apt there is no action taken, rent has been raised $600 in 2 years.
Advice to owner:
please do your job

Great location, okay apt
Former Tenant
Pros:
Best thing about apt is the location, central in manhattan and close to all the lines. Also management is very hands off so no problems with them or neighbors.
Cons:
Service requests such as leaking water or rodents would take weeks to get resolved unless you report leaky faucet as emergency flood then management would promptly solve issues. No willing to negotiate on rent.

Management isn’t great
Former Tenant
Pros:
The units are spacious
and we’re decently priced for the neighborhood, but the rent increases are $500 each year.
Cons:
Outdated appliances, peeling paint, peeling floor, mold under bath floor, splitting wood in the rest of the apartment, some windows don’t open at all, no communication, no email, no online communication- you leave a voicemail and hope to get a response.
Advice to owner:
Use email or an online platform for communication and rent payments
