Review Summary for 160 Rivington Street
Summarized from anonymous rental reviews on openigloo.
Tenant reviews for 160 Rivington Street reveal consistent issues with building cleanliness, pest infestations (notably cockroaches and rodents), and poor garbage management causing odor and trash buildup. Residents frequently cite unresponsive, rude management and maintenance delays, with some noting safety concerns from past fires and structural neglect such as water damage and slanted floors. Noise levels from busy streets and loud pipes disrupt comfort, though the location near subway access and vibrant Lower East Side is a noted plus. Neighbors receive mixed reviews, with some positive remarks on community. Overall, renters recommend management improve maintenance, pest control, and building upkeep to enhance living conditions.

Adequate Apartment - Crap Building & Maintenance
Former Tenant
Pros:
Living in Lower East Side is one of the only pros this building provides. While it is nice that the building is away from the loud chaos that is Orchard and Ludlow Streets, being by the bridge is a blessing for bike riders/runners (but a nuisance for sound and characters on the street). The building cleanliness and pests have improved slightly since they've hired a new person who takes the trash out.
Cons:
- Trash cans are inside the building - Management does not provide lids, and residents are too lazy to walk down the stairs to dispose of trash properly. This results in smells, piles of trash, no access to the recycling bins further down the room, and FLIES. In the summer, flies can be severe.

- Building Cleanliness - My previous building mopped once a week. Here we get a spot clean every month. There's frequently trash and litter in the hallways and outside the building.

- Terrible Super - Super will gaslight you, give you attitude and take ages to fix a problem. He lives in another borough, so if there's an emergency, it's unlikely you'll get assistance.

- Theft - There are no cameras, and theft from other residents occurs often.
Advice to owner:
Get a new, responsible super who lives in or closer to the building, or pay him more and stop overworking him. CLEAN THE BUILDING. Maintain it, and hold tenants accountable for keeping it to that standard.
