This building is literally falling apart
Former Tenant
Pros:
Like my apt layout, hallways were cleaned weekly, super major problems were fixed by management if you bug them.
Cons:
Had cockroaches, took over a month of emails to get management to send over professional pest control and not just some guy. 6 months later, they've come back because they were in the ceiling and there's a crack where they drop onto my bed. Most emails never get responded to. Walls are super super thin. Front door breaks every few months to lock you in the building. A neighbors ceiling literally collapsed and wasn't fixed for a few days. My shower was apparently flooding the downstairs apartment and management told them it was because we hadn't been using a shower curtain, which was clearly false. One of my walls "sheds" from water damage and I don't even care about fixing that because it's by far not the worst problem.
Advice to owner:
Your monthly exterminators should actually spray the apartments instead of walking in and out. Fix problems instead of lying about them.

Dangerous and Disturbing
Former Tenant
Pros:
Good neighbors and relatively quiet building
Cons:
This is the worst building I have ever lived in after 5 years in New York. It is pest-infested and probably structurally unsound. For months, the gas was shut off for the entire building. We had to hound the property owners to reduce our rent as was our legal right. They thought giving us a single camping burner made up for not having a working stove and oven. Our apartment was infested with cockroaches, and even several visits from the exterminator did not fix the problem. The biggest red flag was when a neighbor’s ceiling CAVED IN. All his bedroom belongings were ruined, and the only reason he didn’t end up in the hospital when the ceiling crashed down was because he was in the living room. Our landlord did nothing to check the safety and security of the other apartments in our building, and I felt very unsafe.

Save you sanity and don't move here
Former Tenant
Pros:
exposed brick new appliances in our unit location in the east village
Cons:
lazy management who only responds if you constantly hound them water damage caused by upstairs neighbors that management has yet to fix after 3 months cockroaches and water bugs everywhere and management couldn't care less overpriced unit for all the stuff we've put up with

Former Tenant

Monthly exterminator, normal neighbors, no extreme pest issues, amazing lively location
Cons:
Management is super unresponsive, no amenities for the high rent price, small bedrooms
Advice to owner:

An Average Pre-War Building
Former Tenant
Pros:
They did a great job cleaning the walkways and stairs at least once a week especially if there was trash or things spilled onto the floors. Some apartments were renovated with new hardwood floors. The door had a code access which could be helpful for those who prefer not to have keys.
Cons:
The lighting is very dim because of the lack of windows/natural light but also because of the light installations. There’s very little security with packages and sometimes the camera next to the package area isn’t even on. The management company was not the best communicator and for example did not return our deposit check until we badgered them. The stairs of the building are also very narrow, somewhat windy, and very steep, so moving will be a pain.

Good neighborhood, horrible building
Former Tenant
Pros:
It was in a really good neighborhood
Cons:
Old, falling apart, small. The ceiling collapsed on us and a month after repairs, it started to crack again. We found a roach in our bathtub. We got locked inside the building for hours. Our fridge and oven didn’t work for a time. Our kitchen sink pipe burst and flooded the cabinet below and had to be replaced.

Don’t move in
Former Tenant
Pros:
Cute rustic esthetic
Cons:
It’s not an esthetic, the building it literally falling apart. Management sucks at getting back to you. Plumbing is so old and always backs up. We didn’t have gas for 8 months. They’re ripping off your money. Our lights went out, they wouldn’t replace it for us. Stairs kept breaking, almost broke something 1000 times going up or down them. There’s always leaks in the hallways and in one of the bedrooms. And with the carpeted hallway and stairs it took forever to dry if the even fixed it, so it smelled bad too. You can hear people through the walls 100% clearly, sounds as if their in the same room as you. There was also a full fire at one point and we had to evacuate at 2am.
Advice to owner:
Fix the building.
