Management unresponsive and distant
Former Tenant
Pros:
I got my whole security deposit back on time, even though I didn’t think I would. The neighborhood, the laundry on every other floor, and the roof access are all great.
Cons:
owner lives in california and doesn’t care about building issues. When I moved in they never gave me my mail key (or any welcome info whatsoever, even though I asked a few times) and I had to call every week for 4 weeks before I finally got it. One day I came home to what I assume had been a small leak in my ceiling; there were streaks of dried mud down the walls and on my things. I let management know and no one ever got back to me. In general, the building is not well kept up. The whole year I lived there the tiles in the front hall were cracked and broken, which was disappointing considering what I paid in rent. The appliances were old and patchy and I felt like I was living in a dorm room. Also, a lot of nyu students live here. And it’s right next to van leeuwen, which is not fun because people almost always sit on the front stoop to eat their ice cream, which (when constant) is annoying.
Advice to owner:
Send new tenants welcome info, update appliances, fix the tiles in the front hall, and when someone puts in a request, help them out the first time they ask.

Nice building, big mice scene
Former Tenant
Pros:
Cute, good location, laundry works, super is super nice
Cons:
Many many mice. Once we told the super it was fixed within a couple days, but before that, it was a mouse party
