Review summary

Summarized from anonymous rental reviews on Openigloo.

Tenant reviews for 20 East 22 Street in Manhattan reflect a mixed experience. The building's location is highly praised, offering quiet surroundings and proximity to landmarks. Units often feature in-unit laundry and some modern finishes. However, pests including roaches and mice are a recurring problem, with many tenants frustrated by this and inadequate heat during winter. Apartments are described as small with storage and ventilation issues, and some report unresponsive or exploitative management, particularly regarding rent hikes and maintenance. Noise levels inside units are generally low, and neighbors are regarded as friendly. Overall, while location and some amenities stand out, pest control and heating remain significant concerns.

Reviews

Former tenant·5 minutes ago

cold and full of roaches

Pros

in-unit w/d is nice

Cons

entire building has roaches. seemingly in a huge number of units, and in the hallways. horrible to get home from work and walk by roaches on the stairs, and then get jumpscared by a roach in the living room or on the counter. units are kept unacceptably cold during the winter

Former tenant·1 week ago

tiny units, best if you barely spend any time at home

Pros

new finishings (marble) and nice bathroom

Cons

- pests (cockroaches) - the units are TINY here, extremely low ceilings probably 30%+ lower than those of the units in the buildings neighboring - unresponsive management -- did not respond to our requests to move in / out - greedy management -- deducted 1k+ in cleaning/spackling fees when we paid for professional move-out cleaning and all holes were repaired - terrible ventilation. summer was almost unbearable with extremely weak AC unit, cooking anything in the kitchen will lead to your entire unit smelling and heating up
