Summarized from anonymous rental reviews on openigloo.
Recent reviews for 350 West 55 Street highlight a mixed tenant experience. The building benefits from a prime Manhattan location, spacious apartments, and friendly, helpful doormen and superintendents. Many appreciate the quiet residential street with festive seasonal decorations and convenient access to transit and dining. However, common concerns include inconsistent heating, occasional pest sightings (roach presence), water pressure issues, and sometimes outdated apartment fixtures. Management responsiveness is reported as both attentive and unresponsive, reflecting varied tenant interactions. Laundry facilities and maintenance (e.g., dryers, scaffolding) also need improvement. Rent pricing and post-COVID policies have been criticized for lacking flexibility. Overall, the building suits those valuing location and service but mindful of building upkeep challenges.

Unresponsive management, no heat in winter
Former Tenant
Pros:
Building is located on a nice street with a lot of trees, conveniently located close to a lot of restaurants, bars and subway stations. Apartments are really generous in size.
Cons:
Building management is non responsive, very rude and apartments are falling apart. The super will never come to repair anything, there is always a massive hassle to get anything done (if there is a repair more than a clogged toilet they need approval from management). This would all be tolerable if the building management was not cheap. The heat is more off than on, even when the temperatures are extreme, the heating and hot water is off intentionally or "broken" most of the time. I was forced to heat with turning the oven on and opening the oven door. There is no way to complain about it as management never responds to calls, emails or messages. The water pressure is terrible and the water is more often brown than not but the staff will try to convince you it's normal for NYC water to be brown. There is a rodent infestation in a couple of apartments and the building is all around bad with keeping a healthy and safe environment. Unless you have a move in inspection and documentation of all things in the apartment, they will try and take your deposit for pre-existing things that are broken and they never came to fix.

Lovely building to be in
Former Tenant
Pros:
I lived in this building for almost 10 years. The doormen are great, even though my apartment faced the street it was always quiet, it was always warm in the winter, and the Christmas lights that they hang in the street make that time of year very special
Cons:
There were a few big cockroach sightings - I'd say once or twice a year, so I can't say it's major problem, but enough to freak me out. Building management was always pretty responsive though
Advice to owner:
Seal any gaps under sinks, in closets, etc that allow pests to enter the apartments.
