Non-stop noise, paper thin walls, dogs everywhere
Pros
Affordable as a first time studio, located on the east river with trees and laundry on the block. Utilities included and no broker fees (if your real estate agent is taking you here, they’re scammers).
Cons
Expect to hear everything your neighbors on all sides of you do. After living in this building for 5 years, I’ve seen a new neighbor on every side every lease renewal because it’s honestly very difficult to tolerate hearing everything single sound your neighbor makes. Not sure if apartments were once larger and then separated by rice paper, but I shouldn’t be able to hear every detail of my neighbors life. Hear is controlled by management and apartment is usually hotter than a sauna, but I don’t pay for it so whatever.
Advice to the owners
Allow pets with a size limit. Be proactive in stopping noise (your rental office is in the same corridor where barking dogs can be heard reverberating all day).
