Management’s Weaponized Incompetence
Pros
Good location renovated apartment
Cons
Multiple issues with being locked out due to my door lock mechanism breaking, lack of hot water for a full weekend as well as other water issues, leaking roof causing wall and floor damage, and management incorrectly marking my unit vacant with ConEd, leading to my electricity almost getting shut off. In reporting and documenting all of the above issues, there was a serious lack of accountability taken by management where they would debate with me about how liable they were, if they even responded. I’ve lived over 7 years in nyc, renting across five units, and I’ve never seen such gross negligence. It felt like they just didn’t care, when I’d call they’d always start off saying they have over 600 units before addressing the actual issue.
Advice to the owners
Claudia and/or other members of management have caused me multiple headaches, from the ConEd vacancy issue to how they don’t seem to properly respond to my emails around my move out, continuing to try to charge me for another year of lease until I call them to get it sorted. It doesn’t help that they are extremely rude and dismissive when I call, asking me “why would we mark your unit vacant with ConEd?” Then to give me the headache of resolving the issue with coned, seeking to resolve the outstanding balance now tagged to the building LLC, for gas and electricity and a new account opening fee. On top of all the actual physical issues with the apartment, the management made everything so much worse.
Great building in Carnegie Hill
Pros
The super was so incredibly nice and prompt. The building is well kept and taken care of.
Cons
The sound of the heat turning on/radiator is outrageously loud.
Advice to the owners
Fix your radiators.
