Building Gets Worse After Pandemic
Pros
building with a doorman & concierge as well as a package room doorman are nice and friendly and will help you take up belongings on a cart (but that is because they really don't trust people to return them) has a full health club with pool, rooftop decks and a lounge to rent for events/parties
Cons
elevators keep breaking down - even though they were replaced & upgraded 8 years ago; they have been breaking down from the start (management even once said it didn't occur to them the need to put in stronger cables for faster elevator cars - so they keep snapping). Elevator company will come fix them and they will be broken again the next day. unresponsive management -- leasing office keeps renting apartments to "adults who act like kids" fresh out of college who are allowed to erect walls to convert to an extra bedroom that way they can get more roommates and management can collect even more rent. These neighbors will still feel like they are in a college dorm with parties with loud music and marijuana smoking that not just seeps into air vents and the hallway for all to smell but the stench is so strong that the minute you step off the elevator you smell it. Management will turn a "blind eye" by sending out an email / letter to tenant about building rules and the offending tenants know that nothing will be done (it's become a joke) that they will smoke right in the open hallway or stairwells as they know management will threaten to not renew their lease or possibly evict but will never actually follow through View from rooftop is gorgeous but you will never be allowed to watch Fourth of July fireworks from them as they will purposely close it early (as opposed to other neighboring buildings that will host watch parties).
Advice to the owners
If management is afraid that someone will get drunk and through a lounge chair off the roof ... they don't rent to tenants like that (shed your "Dorm-andy" reputation
