Nightmare fuel, seriously stop giving this guy money

Pros:
Some units are nicely renovated.
Cons:
The landlord is terrible—completely unresponsive and doesn’t care at all about the building or the tenants’ safety and well-being. There have been constant issues like pests, ceiling leaks, the front door not locking, garbage piling up, and a gross stairwell. I’m pretty sure someone with a key to the building is stealing packages because they disappear within an hour of being delivered. The landlord knows about all of this and still refuses to fix the front door lock, install basic security, or even give out the super’s contact info for repairs. Rent has to be paid by check, and sometimes he claims he never got it, which means tenants have to pay to cancel the check and mail another one. On top of that, the building is right on 1st Ave, the windows are super thin, so all the noise comes through—and even water when it rains.
Advice to owner:
Do better.

Pros:
Location and the updated interior of the apartment
Cons:
The landlord/super never answers the phone and only corresponds via email. Repairs are taking quite a while to get taken care of.

Pros:
renovated fixtures, nice area, close to express buss and Q train
Cons:
landlords will get back to you only if they feel like it, won’t solve your issues— just paint over them, and they’ll be condescending the entire time. garbage is kept in the lobby so it can be smelly af
Advice to owner:
answer emails and phone calls, fix the problem the right way the first time instead of taking shortcuts and you wouldn’t have to keep hearing from tenants, rework the garbage situation
