Summarized from anonymous rental reviews on openigloo.
Recent reviews of 30 East End Avenue highlight its spacious apartments, proximity to the park, and pet-friendly environment. Some tenants praise the friendly super and quiet, safe atmosphere, particularly valuing cleanliness when well-maintained. However, significant issues persist, including poor garbage management leading to rodent infestations near building entrances, thin walls causing noise disturbances, and outdated infrastructure such as noisy heating and a frequently broken elevator. Many renters report slow owner responsiveness and lack of timely maintenance. Overall, while the location and apartment size appeal, persistent sanitation and noise problems, along with management's inadequate attention, greatly diminish the living experience for many residents.

you get what you pay for

Pros:
- Rent is relatively cheap. - You live right next to the park. - Dog-friendly building. - Super lives in building and is very nice.
Cons:
- Awful pest control. - Garbage situation is out of control outside. Overflowing garbage cans and people throw their trash everywhere. I saw no less than 1000 rats in the garbage area while we lived there.
Advice to owner:
Deal with the trash issue!

Thin walls, flimsiest of buildings!
Former Tenant
Pros:
The apartment was clean and freshly painted when I moved in. Spacious apartment Pleasant and neighbors are pleasant enough
Cons:
Heat is "included" in the rent, be ready to wear "outerwear" indoors since temp is kept at 68f (legal minimum).
The heater radiator is so loud, my eardrums hurt and haven't had a full night sleep since the cold weather started. Super claims there is no solution, despite mgmt many attempts.
It is true about one of the entrances being used as the garbage area; it's like walking into a dumpster (used as the move-in/out area), with mice and roaches galore.
Heard from neighbors that the elevator breaks frequently, so now I make sure to have my cell phone at hand each time I'm in there (50's elevator, very vintage:)
You'll hear your neighbors' conversations, dogs barking, babies crying - surely they can hear my cat meowing.. and the neighbor downstairs must have a rolling something, I feel as if there is a highway under me; my floor is constantly shaking.
Advice to owner:
Tell your real estate agents to be truthful about what the tenant will encounter (neighbors' noise level & heater radiator noise) - especially when someone makes it a point to say they're light sleepers, the agent should be truthful, so that the right tenant is given the opportunity to rent, as opposed to bringing a tenant to an environment filled with this many nuisances. Better sanitation / pest control in the garbage area.
