Disgusted. Acted like our best friends until we moved out.
Former Tenant
Pros:
Great location for families
Cons:
Wood floors were a mess when we moved in but we didn’t make a big deal of it considering the building is over 100 years old (welcome to NYC). Our super had been in and out of our apartment numerous times, never commenting on the condition of the floors until we approached the end of our lease, at which point he commented on the floors, stating they had been completely redone prior to our move-in. When I informed him that I had photos and videos proving that was false, his story quickly changed.
A few weeks after we moved out, they contacted us via text message demanding that we pay for the floors as well as other ridiculous charges and demanded that I send any pictures I had. I told them I would show them my pictures when they showed me an itemized receipt of damages (as is required by New York State law). They continued to try to bully us into a financial agreement via text message, threatened us with legal action (even though they were in clear violation of the law), and refused to send us an itemized receipt of damages. Luckily, their actions were so indefensible that they were forced to return our security deposit.

During the pandemic, when the building had almost entirely cleared out, my significant other and I stayed in our apartment, paying our full rent on time every month and never asked for a rent adjustment. We also gave the super and other staff generous tips during the holidays and they had the audacity to treat us this way.

Also, rats in the basement as well as large cockroaches that would climb up through the bath drain. Dangerously hot steam pipes throughout the apartment.

If this building seems like your best option, be sure to take photos of any and all imperfections when you move in.
